I really do love the white. I dunno, not terribly practical at the moment. I bought 3 different ‘Birds in about a two month span and dropped a lot of dough to mod one of em.

Completely understood. I will politely back away from my blatant try at enabling.

And for those of you concerned with the shipping price on the white Bird, he has that handy "Make Offer" button there as well. And keep in mind these are one of the rarest colors on a Bird. The prices are usually much higher for a white Bird.

Sounds like a reasonable seller.

I have to admit, I've been eyeing up that Thunderbird as well. But currently have my sights on something else..... It is a great deal, and wish I wasn't having these GAS pains.

It's vintage Sunday once again, let's see where did I leave off? Ah yes the purchase of my Ibanez Destroyer in 12/14/76. Finally a solid body bass I was able to bond with. I almost immediately installed a Dimarzio Model P in the neck and a Gibson EB3 bridge pickup at the bridge. I was very happy with this bass and it has served me well to this day.
By '77 I was working at the House of Guitars and the new Bicentennial Thunderbirds had been arriving along with other cool gear, like first generation B.C.Rich basses. I had to have a Thunderbird! Problem was I was out of money and trade material after the G3 Moserite debacle.
In December of '77 I took out a loan for a Tobacco Sunburst Bicentennial Thunderbird. It was a tough choice between that and the white. I would like to say that it was a match made in heaven but the bridge pickup was microphoic and I found myself dissapointed in the tone, it certainly didn't sound like the 60's Thunderbirds I had played . It soon became backup to the Ibanez. It took Gibson until 1980 to supply new bridge pickup. I eventually regrettably sold the bass in Boston in 1986.
Today I have a black 77 as a stand in.
Fun fact I wrote the sales receipt for the bass!

So I had a visitor earlier. He left this 1990 Orville by Gibson Thunderbird. It has some seriously dead nickel Rotos on it and the neck pickup is sunk into the body. Tomorrow I'll put in new foam rubber, transplant the Thunderbucker 66S, get some fresh strings on it and see about lowering the action a touch. It's 200g lighter than the Epi, and before Mike asks, the neck is slim, but more substantial than the 'slim taper' necks.

Already has an abalone speed knob...

Lucky! My last visitor left me utility bills and a box. The box had a phone upgrade in it! Yay!
The upgraded phone was bricked on arrival, LG's famous bootlock. Refund now "pending"...

Somehow, I don't think I got as good a deal as you did. Nope. Just not quite there.
Also, still waiting for the t-shirt I ordered first week of January. Was sent back to the merchant who said they'd contact me when they got it.

I wonder if USPS failed to find the sender of the package too...

I almost bought a B.C.Rich Eagle for the same price as the Bicentennial , both were $365 with case. The Eagle was certainly the better built bass but I just had to have a Thunderbird.

This morning I was up bright and early and had the soldering iron out.

The stock pickups are very deep with very stiff foam and they were as high up as they were ever going to get. The electronics have been swapped out, which means my Japanese Gibson (I'm still pinching myself) is now sporting a vintage repro 1966 (overwound) Thunderbird pickup. Not sure whether the trim ring is going on or not yet. The dead Rotos are gone, replaced with KS Bass Burners. The strings can settle in for a couple of days before final setting of bridge height and angle (the bridge is currently dead parallel to the body). Maybe in the future I'll get a Hipshot bridge ... don't know about that.

BTW - tell "him indoors" that I have about as many basses as he has shoes and that I have about as many shoes as you have basses. I guess it's all a matter of where we place our priorities, but you'd have more room for basses if he'd off some of those shoes.

Frankly, I'm surprised the good Doctor hasn't snapped this one up already! He has whatever the opposite of a phobia is, for white T-birds

It occurs to me Duke... this might be your chance to pay back @Dr_Feelgoood212 for all his "help". Why don'tcha try shovin' the "Scepter of Enablement" up his arse & rattlin' it around a little
