Thunderbird Club

Hey guys. Nice club you have here.

Several weeks ago I became very interested in Thunderbird. So much that I am ready to sell my Fender JB, ahaha. I live in Russia, so there are a lot of copies from Japan, Korea and China and relatively rare true Gibson.
Could you tell me are Greco and Epiphone are good enough? Do their sound and convenience of playing have resemblance to Gibson? Maybe better (bass god, forgive me) ? What models should I pay attention to? Any other brand suggestion?

Welcome!

Most of the questions are rather subjective. Only you will know if it's good enough for you.
But some of the Epiphone models to keep an eye out for are the Classic Pro, and the Vintage Pro.
Another brand that is held to high regards is Orville by Gibson.

Thanks all (@kat888 @JIO @GBassNorth) here is the bass I have been posting about:
View attachment 2942396
Total Cost: $705.00- $170 (sold the Precision neck on TB)= $535.00
Sweet! That came out very nice and I'm sure it sounds great.
BTW - looking at the first pic it's definitely a coffee table bass. ;)

Hello and welcome, yusak!

I believe you'd be way ahead if you could find a new or used Epiphone Vintage Pro. At least one guy here has dumped his Classic Pro for the Vintage Pro and his opinion is highly regarded here.

Since my Classic Pro sounds just like my modern Gibsons, when I get around to getting a Vintage Pro, I'll more than likely do the same.

Welcome here!

Greco makes great Thunderbirds, the single pickup models have a wonderful growly, angry tone and are nicely made. Orville by Gibson are a bit nicer in some ways and the neck is basically much like a vintage Gibson, very nice if you can find one. Epiphone has many models out there, a standard bolt on neck one with several color and pickup choices, a neck thru version that has a pre amp, the "Classic" which is very close to contemporary Gibsons in many ways and the recently released "Vintage Pro" which nicely takes on the features of '60s vintage Gibson and a bit of modern design. All are great interesting choices!

Jeff, did we not discuss shaving your legs before putting on the stockings?

That is one of those things that is just so wrong to me. Shave 'em. Jeff! :roflmao:
With that much hair showing he probably needs to go with a full Brazil Bikini wax!
I'm thinkin a naked mole rat would be a good look for him...
