My preference is the neck pickup at full volume, and the bridge at about half volume. Neck pickup only doesn't sound quite right to my ears. It may have something to do with the rest of the signal chain.
For what its worth, I played the EB last night. It's got the same DiCola pickups as the '15 Thunderbird, but it sounds quite different. It sustains forever in a way that none of my 'Birds do. That's neither good nor bad. I assume it's a reflection of the wood properties, because the Fenderbird sustains for a long time, too.
Back to pickups - fiddling with the EB settings led to the same basic setting. I guess we all have what we are listening for.
