Thunderbird Club

Warmouth used to make Thunderbird shaped bodies. I wish they still did.

Yes they did. The wood under this trans red is beautiful. The bodies turn up randomly on eBay. There was a loaded body on eBay recently but the guy seemed pretty ambitious on his pricing.

:woot:Dude - were you stoned WHILE doing the home improvement? That looks like black tape holding up the left end of the upper guitar hanger plank.;) Ya might wanna put a screw in that when ya get a chance.

Otherwise, nice work!

It is screwed in. The tape was only to keep the board in place while I drilled the holes and sank the screws. Just forgot to take it off.

I did get stoned once all the drilling was done, as I hand-sank the screws that hold the actual wall hangers on (after I'd drilled the holes, while sober). The reason I didn't use the power drill for the screws is that my power drill is too wide and so couldn't get at the screws dead on and I didn't want to strip them.

Body
$185 alder + $20 back rout + $265 finish = $470.

Neck
$225 maple/ebony + $25 Hipshot ULs + $25 nut + $20 abalone inlays + $70 nitro = $365.

$305 wenge/ebony + $25 Hipshot ULs + $25 nut + $20 abalone inlays = $375.

The wenge would look hot.

I hesitate to mention this as I don’t have any experience on this company. But have you considered PitBull ?

They also do completed guitars and basses, so I guess a painted body is available.

You can still soak it in coffee. I'm not sure tea would have the same effect. If it did, it would take longer. As one of those people with refined tastes who drinks tea and talks funny, you may not routinely have left-over coffee to soak it in. The Mod should take up coffee drinking for the cause. He's got to earn trucker jacket space somehow.
I think that’s right about the tea, I’ve never tried it but I was told that. Ground coffee works better than instant too, the weaker it is the longer it takes but you do get more control over the colouring
