Thunderbird Club

It IS a sin.

I was actually about to ditch one of my Tbirds until I tried some TI flats on it. Really nice sound with the tone rolled off and the neck solo’d. Makes me miss my PBass a little less, but my Ovation may still be a little better for this sound. We’ll see how changing the tone cap affects things.

Whew!
Just did 15 pages of speed reading on clowns and SG's and yanks and meatballs and cats and even a couple of posts about TBirds. This club is like sitting in the back of an all girl junior high school bus on a never ending field trip. Thirty different non related simultaneous conversations, yet everybody knows what everybody else is talking about and anyone can chime in at any time on any conversation. We are truly the ADHD club among Talk Bass clubs. Not a bad thing, just a fast moving unpredictable one.

Someone asked about tone cap impacts on passive instruments and I think Fixer (no longer sporting a cholesterol pushing killer clown avatar thank goodness) said I'd chime in soon on the topic. It didn't look like anyone else did yet - so here it is in a nutshell...
The lower the value on a tone cap, the more highs it will let through. So a .022uf cap will sound brighter than a .100uf cap. Completely removing the tone cap will allow the tone pot to be at its brightest when turned fully up. Note that changing the tone cap does not increase the bass signal, it just regulates how much high end is available. Also, IIRC I found that removing the tone cap coincidentally converted the tone pot into a kill switch once the pot was turned to its maximum high setting, could be useful to some people. As for changing the volume or tone pot values from 250K ohms to 500K ohms there is very little difference in sound, it's probably noticeable to the player but not so much the audience. The 250k pot will sound slightly warmer.

I got called a Yankee frequently when I lived in Kentucky. Then I pointed out that I was from further south, being very southern southern california, than the kentuckians trying to insult me were. They often looked confused.

Is "yankee" considered an insult? (in Kentucky)

Silly, silly people. Not to forget CA was a Union State. I was talking to some dude from Northern Arkansas, almost on the MO state line the other day and when I jokingly said "You are almost a Yankee" he looked at me like I insulted his family..
Guess dumb people don't know they're dumb cause they're dumb..

yes, in mostly all Confederate States.
Having lived in Kentucky for about 35 years, I'd say Yankee is probably one of the less negative insults that could be thrown at you. I won't go into all the other ones that I heard but let's just say that there probably isn't any worse place to reside if you have thin skin (includes Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia). An interesting tidbit on the Yankee front is that Kentucky was one of the few states (technically it's a commonwealth not a state) that split (not along any boundaries, it was family by family) and fought for both the North and the South. So you could be either a Yank or a Rebel if you're from Kentucky. But again, that's a lot better than the many other things they call you if you're from that state.;)

Depends where you started from

Emma Shepherd from ‘Shepherd’ uses a white Gibson SG/EB3 at times. Looks great. I think she must be an endorser as she also plays a white Gibson EB14/15 at other times.

That just seems mean...

Are you claiming tripod status ?
Merely pointing out that there's a lotta I-95 left after ya cross the state line. Plenty of places 350+ would take you through 3 or 4 states. My family and I went from WPB to Pensacola. Once we left I-75 for I-10, my daughter said we should be there soon. I pointed at the mile marker(295)and said P'cola is at mile marker 2.. It got Real quiet.
