Thunderbird Club

Back to bass, more or less. It was the pride parade yesterday, and I played a show - upright bass - at a pretty nice bar in an area that is known for a fairly high lgbt population. We figured we might have a decent sized audience. We drew fewer than we thought we might, but there were a couple of enthusiastic drunks who were entertaining. They were all wrapped in rainbow flags but they (both guys) were hitting on a beautiful young woman I happened to know who was in the audience. She was having none of it, and she is more than a match for just about anyone. It was fairly amusing to watch play out from the stage, especially since there was no real problem. And we played pretty well to. That is always a bonus.

Some classic German prog with Thunderbird content. Does anybody currently frequenting the Bird cage have their Thunderbird tone real close to this guy's?. You may not like the music but once you pass the 1:38 mark the music gets moving and the Bird starts flying.

Went on YT and found a remastered version-sound Much better. He's using tape wounds which may account for the tone. There's another video of them doing "Sun Song" where you can hear the Bird clearer. I've used tape wounds and they Are definitely a different tone.

Damn. That is an experienced response:thumbsup:. I had no idea what strings he was using. So your tone would be really close to his when you used tapewounds?.

We've always done more of a classic rock format, but when I noticed that's what he had on his Bird, I realized that's what was making it sound like that. EQed differently than I would(I'm more mellow) but try a set. I used D'Addarios but there are others including 7ender-which I've also used. I like them but I'm on a Chromes and EB Cobalt flats kick right now. Loving the Cobalts on my 5 string Epi Bird.:hyper: 0606181340-00.jpg

To neck with golf! Play rugby!
:roflmao:Thirty years ago I would have.
Now days I have to take pain pills just to get through a round of golf, so I'm a bit past my prime when it comes to physical contact sports. Although I did get hit in the knee by a golf ball yesterday while on the green, I should have fallen to the ground and rolled around a bit - missed opportunity.
