Much change for me of late. Finally ditched the job I hated working 2nd shift for one that I really like. I'm an HR Technician at a prison now, and loving it. My previous band Threshing Floor has ended so I started looking to get something else going with no luck. I got a call from a drummer I know from the scene and we're working on a 90's cover band that should be ready to gig in a month or two. I also had to replace my truck. My radiator cracked on the way home from work a couple weeks ago. I got another radiator and got back to it the next day. Turns out somebody cut out and stole my catalytic converter. It was the straw that broke the camel's back and it got parked. I got a good deal on am 09 PT Cruiser. I rather like the Homely Turtle.

I auditioned for a 90’s band a few months ago. There’s a lot of great tunes from that era!

So now that the Schaller S-Locks are in stores near you, has anyone tried them?
I like the new strap portion, the threads are longer, and there's a lock screw on the thumbwheel.
But I don't like the button side, it's all one piece and really aggressive threads. I'd be afraid two things; one, the threads going threw the paint and mess it all up. Two, the button loosening off and not noticing because it won't rattle like a normal button.
But if anyone has tried them yet, I'd love to hear your thoughts

I have one and it gets far more use than all of my many other Fender basses combined. Not to mention it's a relatively rare discontinued beast at a steal of a price.

I dig the bass, my first admission. But i still can't get along with a pick up in that position.

Some was that, some was just band drama. Mostly just fizzle, not atrophy.

It's one of those basses you have to play to appreciate. It's not like any other Fender I've ever played, much more EB/SG sounding with the neck pup soloed except on steroids, truly wall shaking. But dial in the bridge pup and it starts to take on a Bird angry piano personality. The two pups combined create a massive wall of bass tones that are a force to be reckoned with.

Fender discontinued the bass after about a two year run several years ago. They are getting harder to find. Like I said, it's the perfect back up bass to a TBird or an SG/EB. Does everything from Reggae to Rock and Country Western very well.
