Thunderbird Club

Attended the local TB-GTG/Emerald City Bass Con yesterday, and i just wanted to say how much @Goalee & @TBird1958 were notably missed (at least when i was there), didn't see ANY birds/bird shaped instruments in attendance, either . Was hoping somebody might have brought one of the Epi VPs to try.

It was still fun though... highlights for me besides seeing some old/new faces to put names too, was to have a go at a sweet 2014 red Ric with a pick, & plugging an unmarked jazz into the newish Genzler Magellan. Though conditions weren't ideal to hear the Magellan's little bit of dial twisting i did, that red Ric thru a Portaflex had zero problem cutting thru all those simultaneous low rumbles emanating well out into the parking lot :bassist:

Current GAS list: *Ric 4003*
& *the right Bird for me, in white*

(Edit> i'ts not letting me tag @goalee proper )
That was yesterday!? Shoot! I have been asleep at the switch.

Lou, I had planned on attending ( I'm the Queen after all!) , I got called into work at the last minute, couldn't get out of it. To say the very least, I was not a happy girl yesterday, tho we did rehearse later, that helped some.

For kicks I tried this............Sounded pretty good!

Dang, you forgot to mark the calendar. As long as it's not this switch, i guess... >

I think one of those is an "on/off" suck switch.:smug:

Used, RD re-issue with lots of knobs!

I wish it was local. I loved to try it out.

The six string version was really noisy. No amount of grounding or shielding would help (we tried). It was definitely circuit noise. (It hissed like Gollum with elves nearby.)
CAVEAT: I only worked on the one. It was brand new when my friend bought it. Dealer said there was nothing they could do.

Mine already came that way, the basses don't suck though, the player is questionable.
:cool:Actually I've been told I'm a phenomenal player (or was that nominal, I don't remember, but that's not important right now). What is important is that I'm positive I'm completely limited by my gear. I mean, we all know the inherent design flaws with any bass Gibson ever made (:woot:just ask the TB GenPop) rendering the Thunderbird nearly unplayable. And don't even get me started on Fender flaws.:rollno:

Being a bass playing child prodigy (or was that a child that needed prodding, I don't remember, but that's not important right now) without a bass until I turned 45 did set me back a bit on the fame and stardom scale. But heck, all I need to reach my full potential now is a top of the line Ritter, with real gold hardware and incrusted in diamonds. I'm sure I'd sound much better on that. Everyone could see with their own eyes :wideyed:just how good I sound.

:sorry:Alas, until my starving bass player Go-Fund-Me site exceeds $100,000 so I can buy that Ritter, I'm destined to continue wallowing along playing gear that completely stifles my artistic talent:unsure:. Yep, I'm blaming it on the "suck" switch wiring, the TBird ergonomics and the Fender Tort.:cautious:

:cigar:Remember, it's a poor craftsman that blames his tools. :yawn:My tools are just fine, it's the basses that suck.;)
