Thunderbird Club

Laughs are good - we can always use more!
I tend to ignore what the lyrics are and just hear the groove, so in the past I never paid attention to the lyrics in My Sharona.
But then last year I wanted to show my teenage daughter how to play the bass line and I looked up the lyrics...
My last band used to do a killer version of "Pearl Necklace" by Top. We used to introduce it as a song about Jewelry. Right?????????? LOL

In the mid 70s, a band I was in did the instrumental opening theme from a movie starring L.Lovelace. We introduced it as the "Theme from the movie of the same name". No one ever(admitted)recognizing it.:smug:

As long as we are testing limits:

That song is a blast for a bass player. You can play one line on upright and the other on electric, or both on electric. It's a challenge, but it can be done.

Back when I was gigging we used to play Walk on the Wild Side back to back with this...

Some of the crowd saw the link, everybody loved it.

I know there's been a lot of car talk here recently, but hopefully this is still the Thunderbird Club for a reason. Finally took 'er out of the case, now that I have an amp worthy of her existence.

May I have a number please? Thanks... Phat.

Welcome! There is some talk of Thunderbirds here, and Gibson/Eppi basses in general get a lot of discussion. And yeah, we like our cars.
Nice Tbird! Mine only goes in the case to travel.
The Queen will be along at some point to issue your number. In the meantime I suggest you prepare yourself for the initiation....

Well if it's creepy for me to still be making music in my 70s, it's going to have to happen anyway...

Leonard Cohen is becoming one of my quiet heros.
While some are well past their prime in their seventies, others just keep going and going. I had the pleasure to see NY on his short Crazy Horse tour a few months ago, and he still brings it and appears to have not slowed down at all. There are other “mature” acts I’ve seen recently though, that were just sad. It really depends on the individual, their, heath and how much they still want to be doing it.

I'll know we've reached the pinnacle of political correctness once The Rolling Stones refuse to play their hit song "Brown Sugar". Until then pretty much anything goes as long as you have a clear exit route and a good lawyer. :D
A large percentage of the Stones' catalog is politically incorrect.:p

My brother and I have been working this one out. Primarily because it is a cool Devo song. We think it adds to the cool that it is now politically incorrect.

Hey, isn't music supposed to challenge convention?
