Thunderbird Club

You're gonna have to elaborate on that a bit, no idea what you're talking about, lol.
Sorry. I was being way too cryptic. There's a bunch of people who prefer the Non Reverse style Thunderbirds or switch back and forth between those and the usual ones. I don't always remember what's common knowledge and what isn't. Fortunately, my lapse got corrected shortly after I made it.

Non Reverse Thunderbirds are shaped kind of like a Jag with the upper horn longer.
Hmm. I'd never really paid attention to that similarity. Maybe that's why it's fairly comfortable as my backup/tight spaces bass. 0702180915-00.jpg 0604180849-00.jpg

lol, yep. I'm an active-soapbar-fretless sort of chick, all this thunderbird stuff is foreign to me :P

That doesn't preclude Thunderbirds. My fretless is a Thunderbird. It started life active, but I didn't like the preamp. It could have stayed active easily enough.

Side question if any one has any info that'd be awesome. If not it's all good too.

I've got a chance to either pick up a peavey TKO 65, mid 80's model. Or The Tko 115s sheffield 90's model. I'm familiar & have played the 115 s countless times with my band & it's nice & defined even for a 15" speaker. Also read its the series that replaced the 65 afterwards.

I guess i might be answering my own question of which i should get...Familiar territory rather than something just for the sake of it.

If only i'd have space in my room for both xD I think the 115 will be beneficial. The headphone input is a nice feature & since it's loud enough for a gig, it's easier to load in cars during shows.

Same here - being a three piece where I'm bass/lead vocals, with a versatile guitarist & grooving punk drummer, the TKO 115 carried it's own & shaped my tone pretty great. Clarity through a 15" is pretty rare. Hence why i'm probably gonna go with familiarity rather than new territory that might not work as well.

Already the case with the rest of my stuff in my room. Building two vaults to house a few of my instruments & my drum shells are stacked ontop, the other has my amp heads & pedalboard. I've limited space & hope to be cleared of enough before i move out xD

So i'm biting the bullet tomorrow - gonna pick up the tko 115 s. See if i can drastically talk the price down since they've had it for a years time. Also debating if down the line i semi convert it to isolate both the amp & speaker, or find a way to implement a on/off switch where it would engage or disengage the amplifier section from the speaker enabling me to use the speaker for a separate head connection.

Til then, familiar box with a nice sound is gonna be mine xD
