Thunderbird Club

I always wondered about Fender's "long G-string saddle-bolt" that is on your vintage P. I wonder if the bridge was positioned too far back? The G saddle is nearly at the top edge of the plate and there's plenty of space below the G string saddle.

Never got that either. Intonation is fine. TI's on there right now. They seem to be a b!tch to intonate sometimes.

Uff!!!, tell me about it. But with an Altec 421 in it?

My '76 B-15N has an unmarked driver in it - old pic, I've since replaced the stained grill cloth.

I’m going for an round fat old school sound more than deep dub. Some of the music has Calypso influence and there’s also tunes where I can break out some ska octave runs ala Horace Panter.

The Casady can also be super grindy with roundwounds or even new flats. It’s very responsive to changing technique as is my VP. I might grab an Eppi Classic if one comes up on CL and try an old set of flats on it.
with black tapes this would make the perfect reggae bass....

:) ...Here's my composition - Dialator. My 'direction' to the guys was to channel the ocean. I used a click track to stay static, like a ship in a squall. The other is Toms beautiful song Strumpet. ...

Yow! Somewhere between Pink Floyd and some excellent but obscure Christian bands you likely never heard of. I would buy this album in a heartbeat.

'69 - '73 only ... what's the measurement on yours from the center of the G saddle to the base/bottom of the body. My '66 is roughly 2-1/4"

:) Thank you! That's so nice of you to say that! Frankly if Tom knew I've been disseminating these past 'rough drafts' he'd kill me! (he's so the perfectionist!) Every time I see him I tell him how much I love Strumpet. The other cats wouldn't care - Mason (other guitarist) is a heavy 'noise' guy (attends Noise music festivals in Japan) and Frank the drummer (played with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum briefly) is a sweet guy but incredibly difficult to work with.
Never see them anymore, but I will be part of a jam session with Tom in a little over an hour! :bassist: :hyper:

Forgive me Geo. Do you mean this? Of course I’m using all that modern technology has to offer in the taking of this pic. :)

Bingo! About 3/4" difference! That's the reason the bolt needed to be that long! Why is the more important question... :wacky:
