was that Bird always that color?

Sparkling Burgundy is a deep red. Burgundy Mist is more pink or lavender. Both are great colors and would look good on a 'Bird, but I already have a red 7enderbird. It would look better Sparkling Burgundy. It is close enough. When looking at Burgundy Mist car and guitar pics I happened across another Gibson colour - Sparkling Burgundy.
I like that.
Isn't there, like, a forum or thread or something for that?

It is beautiful. What is the name of that colour? No, it was probably a Natural finish when it was new, I bought it for 1K at BassNW, it was a wreck, missing a pickup the finish was totally chowdered. I played it that way for awhile but it went to Mike Lull, I remember his office manager at the time thought it wasn't a good idea, saying that it would cost more to fix the bass than it was worth. Obviously, that didn't matter to me, it took awhile to round up all the parts, the pup cover was silly expensive. I think it went to Michel Dolan for the refin, which involved filling in a lot of buckle rash and various gouges in the wood, it's beautiful paint work and I like having a bass no one else does.

That is a sweet rig.

I know, lets chat about Thunderbirds.![]()
That's so great. Definitely good to know if I can ever actually get to the point of needing a cab for gigging!I'm kicking myself in the @$$ for buying one 20 years ago, I can't believe how much better it sounds than my GK cabinets. After our NYE show our guitarist said "I heard the bass tonight!"![]()

People often say "the audience won't notice"....maybe they won't notice the diff in bass tone but they will unknowingly definitely notice a better sounding band..I'm kicking myself in the @$$ for buying one 20 years ago, I can't believe how much better it sounds than my GK cabinets.
