The SVT212AV cab has a 'prestige' badge, but was bought because it is 4Ω, wasn't stupid expensive, there aren't a lot of accessible 212 choices ... and it actually sounds good. Traynor is maybe like Peavey? Although unlike Peavey, most people have never even heard of.

Thunderbirds? I must be plain old perverse. I'll admit to disliking the poly finishes on the modern Epiphones, otherwise Gibson, Epi, Orville, Greco, boutique builders -- they're all Birds and if they play well and sound good, what more can you ask for? The same goes for a Squier, as long as it doesn't have a tort scratchplate (I'll 'tort nazi' you, Mark @dukeorock!) and it plays well, go for it. In fact I'd deliberately rock a Squier just to piss people off.

As I said b4, I so wanted a YBA-200/212 but the one place in Miami that handled Traynor wouldn't budge on the $-this was around summer 1980-so I bought a(used)SVT/810. Shoulda saved the bucks and used my Kasino (2x15)for the larger room where I played the 'Peg. We were using a Traynor powered mixer for PA and it more than held its own. The 'backup' 5quier[no tort]: Edit: Trying to think back some 39 years, I had 2 2x12 7ender cabs. I vaguely recall wanting something else from Traynor. 4x12, 6x10, 2x15? I honestly don't remember any more. It was whatever they made in '80 that a YBA-200 would push. Damn CRS.

Thanks! One channel is a room mike in the crow's nest sound booth and the other channel is PA feed off the board, both straight into the TEAC. That's why the vox are so loud. Bass is room sound, no DI or mic. Steve's guitar was mic'd. Drums were mic'd plus one shared vocal mike.

That’s some power pop right there! Catchy song. About that time frame I listened to a lot of LA power pop like The (Paul Collins) Beat, Great Buildings, 20/20, The ShakeShakes, Dwight Twilley...fun stuff

Had a Speakon>1/4" phone plug cable made to adapt the head to the combo's enclosure, and this is stupendous. Yep, it's the dreaded "T Stack", but it's the best amp sound ever. 2 ohm cab, opens the 370s tone right up.
The pile has come to something. I don't even mind the funny looking, garage-scrounge look. Sounds like everything good going on all at once, to me, right now.

Ultimately string (and bass, amp and the rest) choice is more to do with us being happy in ourselves -- and how we want to be perceived -- and therefore giving a better performance than about thrilling the audience.

That's my €1 anyway.
