Thunderbird Club

Basically, all my cabs are ‘mixed driver’ cabs. No ones ‘head will fly off’ at the thought of it. If some folks here find it amusing to act as though a designed system is the same thing as randomly selecting different cab pairings or doing the DIY shoving various drivers with no knowledge of how this stuff actually works, I won’t be arguing the point.

I think most of us are parodying those out in GP that will jump on any mixed drivers. Well designed cabs will work well; poorly designed cabs will sound like :poop:. Regardless of number and size of drivers.

There are those that hear a single piece of wisdom, adopt it as their own without any understanding, and parrot it back incessantly. And that is why your Thunderbird sounds terrible, always heads directly for the floor, and then without warning the headstock spontaneously pops off.

Agreed on both these posts, it's what i was trying to say.

The one thing my new bandmates do notice is that I have more than one bass. Generalising here but having 20 guitars may be more of a boy thing.[/QUOTE

Not a boy thing for this old lady. After 37+ years of GAS it adds up. I will be getting rid of some gear and storing some offsite in a few months to free up space.

RIP Dick Dale...

An insufferable blowhard that put his mark on the early electric guitar and amplification scene and never really got his dues. Love a lot of his stuff.

Agree. He may not have been the nicest, most down to earth kind of guy at times, but I’m deeply saddened at his passing. He was active almost to the end. He made amazing music.

We just went through all this a few pages back.* A Thunderbird needs a longer strap so that it sits lower on your hip. Angled up there is no reach for those lower frets.

*A few pages back being within the last 200 pages.
Long time Fender P player (with Jazz necks) here to attest to another PJ player that lengthening the strap and playing at an angle was not a difficult adjustment for me to make in the few days I’ve had the T-Bird. It does feel different with the U neck and flatter fretboard radius, but I got the action lower than on my Fenders with the same model of strings.

Is that young Al Franken on bass? The stiff band is a riot swaying back & forth in time while DD rips it up up front!
