I swear I feel like the only one who's perfectly happy with the stock TB+ in my 2013.
I forget what year mine is (~2013) but I'm in no hurry to change the pickups!

the 2013 buckers sound too bright (modern) for me, almost as if they are going through a preamp. although very meaty, way too in your face for my taste...the 76s are way more mellow (less 2k high mids) but retain the huge bottom end. with adequate EQ they can be made to sound piano like..
also, the hi mass Hipshot exacerbates this modern high sustain, bright mode so I went back to a three point..
I let the SVT do the work..
it is after all "The Jetsons" bass...That's because you insist on playing an NR. The shape of the body pools the high frequencies until they simply have to burst out and beat everyone about the head instead of a proper punch in the gut or rumble in the nether regions. Hence the modern feel.
Seriously, I mainly play the neck pickup with the tone rolled off or close to it, and I have no problems with things being too bright. No idea whether the NR and normal have the same pickups.
Such a willingly supplicant, you are!![]()
I actually threw it out of frustration at a sound guy, yes yes I know the rules no bashing sound guys. How do I like this more?
Awesome!
Out of frustration I threw it at a sound guy.Did you at least do it on stage?
Have you heard a PRO IV? If so, how would you compare the PRO IV to the TB+ pups?
And I bet you'll disappoint me by telling me there's no film or video of that?Out of frustration I threw it at a sound guy.
was it a 62?I actually threw it out of frustration at a sound guy, yes yes I know the rules no bashing sound guys.
in 2014 I sold this Jackson tbird never thinking I would find another collector selling one because they just never made enough of them....
( the blue one is an Epi body parts bass )
and THEN out of the blue a guy I know who I have bought from before asks me to buy this even rarer Charvel version.
so it looks like I will be back in the Tbird club for a little while longer

I did that on both my Casady and VP.The nut on my Bird is sharp at the ends. Once in a while, esp on a specific song part, etc, I'll gliss down hard all the way past 1st fret and impale my index finger's 1st knuckle on that gnarly plastic pike. So I filed the nasty little bugger down and it's a little less disagreeable.
I think it's about time I put a few things on my terms. Sometimes life needs a mod.
Here's the sharp end I left on the bass side. No problem there. View attachment 3396706
Here's the treble side, filed down. I was careful to not scrape the nearby wood and its finish.

Tough to see I guess, but it didn't take much to make it reasonable.
I figure it must be a common thing. Small issue, little things like this help you to get to know your bass better.I did that on both my Casady and VP.
Hey you have your album title!Yeah, drummer was saying she's had so many traumatic band experiences ... until Crimson Sparkle. No egos, no drama, no bollox.
Those are details I am happy to deal with considering the overall value those basses represent.I figure it must be a common thing. Small issue, little things like this help you to get to know your bass better.
I have no doubt he deserved it. Did it hit him?I actually threw it out of frustration at a sound guy, yes yes I know the rules no bashing sound guys.
