Thunderbird Club

Last night was the first time in my career where I had to sub out my gig due to illness. Turns out it was legit because I’ve been in the ER all day and have to spend at least one full night here :/
Morphine is kinda rad, though
Sounds like a kidney stone. Ask me how I know...
Whatever the reason, get well soon!

Here is another gratuitous action shot from the gig on Sat. A friend sent his to me. poopie from the balcony *Please stop me if this is too much self promo.

Watched a good TV show the other day. Our public broadcaster, the ABC, has a series called The Recording Studio.

It is set up to be emotional but apart from that it was pretty cool. The episode I saw had two stories going.

One a Grandfather farmer that had played in a country band for 50 years but never recorded. His family all play together in a bluegrass band and arranged for them to record with him as part of the show. They recorded “Roll in my Sweet Babies Arms”. When I check who else had done it I saw “The Legendary Shack Shakers” - that’s @dukeorock isnt it ?

The other story was a girl with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) who recorded a song to thank the nurses etc that looked after her. Very good too.

A little bit about the show:
‘The Recording Studio’ to premiere on ABC TV this week
I enjoy the ABC programming that streaming services like Hulu and AcornTV pick up. I was a huge fan of Sea Patrol when it was in production. Pretty much anything with Lisa McCune, Danielle Horvat, Kristy Allan, Saskia...is a good watch.

I love this, especially the look on your guitarist's face - great shot!

Sorry for the confusing post, Mike.

I kind of look at it this way... the first 3.5 years was my break even period. I had to make it 3.5 years for my $500 buy-in to at least pay off and not be a bad decision as opposed to just buying 12 month contracts. Here I am 15 years after making that one-time payment or 180 months later, if you will and the monthly charge is down to $2.78/month. $500 divided by 180 months.

If I make it to 20 years, 240 months, I'll be down to $2.08/month which is $500 divided by 240 months.

That's what I meant by, "dropping every month."

Confusing everyone with your fancy mathing...

Better to take the accounting approach and amortize over 42 months and then describe your Sirius XM experience as "appreciating a fully depreciated asset" because that wouldn't confuse anyone.

No thank you...

A colleague was just hospitalized with kidney stones. Not a good time at all.

[soapbox]
Many doctors have a misunderstanding of opiates. They seem to think that Demerol is less addictive than morphine. That is absolutely false. Worse, Demerol was originally developed as an anticholinergic. And this is why it causes more nausea than morphine. This is why Demerol is ALWAYS administered with Gravol. And still causes more nausea than morphine.[/soapbox]

Had a kidney stone while at sea in the Navy. They gave me a sedative called Doriden(hadn't been sleeping b/c the pain). Told me not to take it 'til I was sitting on the edge of the bed, then lay down. They weren't kidding.

Amazing! As bad as I am at math/finances, I thought that's what you meant.

Hey everyone. I just picked up a 2013 Gibson thunderbird yesterday. I would like to get some chrome covers for the pick ups but I'm not sure how involved it is to get the old covers off.
From everything that I've read it's not a simple unscrew the old one and pop a new one on.

So my question is this. For someone who isn't very mechanically inclined and doesn't have many tools at their disposal. How hard is it to replace the covers? Thanks!!!

If the pickups aren't potted into the covers in a bed of epoxy, you cut them off, put on the chrome covers, and are good to go. Chrome is good!
