patience Grasshopper..Indeed. They're so cool. But then again you already know that. One of the very few things on my wish list. Like someone said above, if only Epi would do one in a VP. Wow! While I love old...I'm really impressed with my new VP. I'd buy one again, even before a Gibson--unless Gibson started using the Probuckers.
My '64 Embassy arrived yesterday. Fantastic shape for a bass a fraction of it's age. I have some adjustments to do but it sounds fantastic. Has that thick punchy T-bird sound.

This sounds like it needs to be part of my next bass' construction.Roasting the wood (ash, maple most commonly) exfoliates all moisture from the wood and caramelizes the resin in the woods pores. Aside from making it lighter it makes it stronger and more acoustically resonant. MusicMan does a lot of their necks like this. As far as finishing, it can go the route of any wood - being painted or oiled or clear-coated - no difference. So the result is a more comfortable, more resonant, less apt to move (warp etc) instrument. Visually, it generally darkens the wood and enhances the grain pattern - so looks cool.
And ambition in the jeans.some talent in those genes
pics please..Yes. It's a Bat-Bird!
