Thunderbird Club

I'm good at two- a 4 and a 5 string. If I were trying to make a living, or even a serious second income off bass, that would probably change, but not drastically. Drastically were I to become a session musician, but that would require Carol Danvers level change, or every other bass player on the planet being abducted by aliens. Maybe not even then.
Really? There is no such thing as having enough Birds. I have too many basses as is, but when the right one comes along...

Some wag did ask what function the knob performs.
Should have said, "I don't know, go ask your wife"

Playing my `bird tonight, I decided that the Roto 66s are done. The strings now have that dead rubber band sound. I had been thinking for the last few weeks that the strings just weren't what they were, but tonight I made the decision. Not bad though, I think they lasted me about 3 months, which is typical for me. But now I have to decide what goes on next.

I think my great steel string experiment is done. I appreciate why people like steel. Now I need to decide what happens next. Here are my thoughts, comments welcome:

Nickel Rotos.
Pure Blues,
Nickel Lowriders,
NYXLs, or
LaBella White or Copper White tapes.
Maybe Fender 7150's or Cobalt flats.

The 4 i have are overkill, but it's fun, and it's all about the fun of it for me.
I'll always play, even if i don't seriously gig again.
Yep. Pretty much my take. But no such thing as overkill. My wife is very understanding. I didn’t buy a Corvette. I drive a Subaru. I have some nice basses. I go to work, come home, have dinner and noodle around (from April to October while watching baseball).

So my daughter is now working for an airline and we get amazing perks. If we get to NY, I’ll be sure to try to arrange a meet with you. Given your music taste, I think we’re like brothers or something....

Ok, whatever it is - it's groovy! :D
this guy.....retubing it..

I've heard they sound very good.
yeah, nice little head....with 15 watts there's not much you can do with it other than use it for practice or recording.....been messing with the speaker output into a power soak/attenuator, then into the input of a fairly large Class AB SS amp....unfortunately emulating the nonlinearities of a real speaker is too much to ask from a power soak resistor like the one I'm using.....
