Thunderbird Club

Edit...

My wife and I, stopping off on our way to Miami before we got married, stopped at a diner in Cocoa Beach. They were having a semi-final event for a karaoke competition. We saw a wrinkled, sun-tanned old woman in a pink terry-cloth sweat suit get up and do a rendition of "Crazy" by Patsy Cline- she was very good, and she gave us the willies! It was right out of a David Lynch screenplay. She had a total take on it, like she'd written it- she brought the "Crazy" home. It was devastating, and very entertaining.
Karaoke can be ok.

Sometimes for an impromptu "guest" singer, a band I knew in Miami would, mid-song, mess with them by half the band dropping down a half-step. It was hilarious.
Count, that is freakin hilarious!! Would totally do that to those deserving of!

We tune a 1/2 step up sometimes in order to stay in standard and we even tell our singer we’re doing it. Yet, he always asks us after the first few goes if we’re doing something different from the recording. :smug:

Hmmm. I'm thinking for one of "those" singers everyone could play in a different key until you find one that works then everyone play that key until you need a new one in a couple of bars.

the little guy's birthday today....seems to be liking this present..

I know, I get it. The ONLY karaoke night I thought was interesting was a live backing band setting. Of course the song choices were limited, but it was awesome. Except for the singing... And you’re right - everyone was LIT.
I did the backing part at a wedding. Drunk wedding guests were pretty entertaining to back, but I can see why plenty of people would have hated it.

Once you oust the player in question, do you have a viable option to replace her? If not, does this place the entire project on hold or at a standstill? I understand that for recording drums there are a lot of options these days, but what about live? Do you (hopefully) have someone waiting in the wings?

Some of the behaviour has been so toxic we shouldn't wait for a replacement ... and it's not fair to drag it out. Alternatives are being pursued.
