Thunderbird Club

Used my new VP in a church setting today. I have to say I'm still really impressed. I'm shocked Gibson does make that model here and charge more. I haven't played a new Gibby in years, but I can't imagine one sounding better than the VP--or feeling much better really. Just having a few better parts and the like. Now to find a case as it barely fits my '76 case.

Had TI superalloys this time out. I think I like the GHS Pressurewounds a tad better. I have the SAs on my '64 and it's my gold standard, so I thought it would be idea. Sounded great as a T-bird should, but I think the PWs might have the edge as I try different strings. I slapped some Boomers on it just so I can say I tried them. We'll see how long they last. I keep going over all the possibilities.... Fun and frustrating at the same time.

Some pics from my weekend, more to come at some point.
Had a few hours to spare and visited Salt Creek on the Olympic Peninsula, it's a park and historic site.

The coast can be pretty rugged here, the waves were coming in nicely as there was a steady wind.

Very interesting how these rocks had worn

Before WWI and leading up to WWII this portion of the coast (and Vancouver Island) were fortified with a series of interlaced gun emplacements set into the landscape as this one was, you can see the ring of the position around the Subie, note the shells on the left.

Here's a "seastack" in a little bay, note the person to the left for scale.

Looking over my shoulder at work, had a great trip! Saw lots of old friends, made some nice $$$ and @$$ dragged home today. Likely will have lots more from these shows later.

You played a Thunderbird in church and you didn't get struck by lightening? Either God has lousy aim or GP is wrong about `birds again...

Thanks for the the stunning pics and the history lesson!

Not sure if you are joking, but that is indeed Sabbath. Side 3 of the "We Sold Our Souls For Rock n Roll" greatest hits album. Always seems very out of place for them.

Changes (Black Sabbath song) - Wikipedia

Yeah. I've run across it before, and that time I really didn't think it was them. But thanks for making sure! The keys in that song make me itch. They remind me of a song I always despised (can't recall what it is at the moment, just the feeling).
