Thunderbird Club

I have no remorse putting mosquitoes out of their misery - flies also. I was painting outside under an eve a few weeks ago in SoCal and heard this sound - looked around and a dark fuzzy flying grape was wanting to get where I was. I had a big fat brush filled with paint and made it clear I'd use it if it got any closer. It buzzed away.

Carpenter Beetle - they apparently bore into wood and take up camp... about the size of a good-sized grape.

We get the carpenter bees. Always amazed at how perfectly round their burrows are. Really did a number on the deck railing.

I don't have time today, but tomorrow should be a new string day. Thunderbird string experiments continue. Rotos are good, but I think I am more inclined to use nickel. At some point I will try Roto nickels, but not this time. I decided that EB is worth a trial. There are lots of great players that use EB, but they have techs to put new strings on all their basses before each show and they get their strings free.

So I put the cobalts on the ‘15 last night. Played for about 90 minutes. I like how they feel. Was busy today, but hope to complete setup tonight after dinner. Need to give the rod a tweak, intonate D and G, lower the bridge pickup a bit and settle on string height. They sound decent fresh outta the package.

Roxy Music's induction into the R&R Hall of Fame this year....they still got it going....Manzanera later plays (on Avalon) a red Firebird that's like eye candy..

A red Firebird VII w/ gold hardware is still my dream guitar.

And that is my favorite electric violin ever.

TR6 is a fun little car. Since you live in CA pay attention to what year you buy. I believe 1975 and older are exempt from CA smog requirements. The 1976 and newer models would have to pass the ever tightening smog requirements, which can be nearly impossible for some of those older cars.

An interesting back story...
There are a total of about 5 guys that combined account for around 95% of all the movie trailer voices we've all heard and grown up with. A couple of them are close friends. It's always a bit unnerving when we get together at the bar for drinks and start talking. Everybody around us recognizes the voices but can't place the faces, drives eavesdroppers nutz.

Over drinks one night I dared my "voice" buddy's to pull all five guys together and make a short YouTube clip. They took me up on the dare. I bet you'll recognize every voice in this clip...

Pretty funny. Enjoyed that.

Mosquitoes are more or less a pestilence, I agree. Most everything else I'm disposed to mercy with. If it has life, it has place. Unless I'm dinner...

Tell me about your white strap. I too have one for my white VP but my neck is VERY brown and yours seems to be of the darker kind that ties in quite well with the pups and hardware. Sometimes I wonder if I should change it to a brown.

Do you feel the strap color should match the white bass? Do you change to other colors based on shirt color? Do you have a dorsal fin???

THX

My white strap is white, padded and with an extender, lets the bird sit just where it should.

I have never posted a picture of myself, let alone my neck, so how would you know what colour my neck is? Are you stalking me? Do I need to get a restraining order?

I don't have any pups, but I would like to get a dog. I love dogs.

As for strap colour, I think no strap is the ultimate solution and so to that end will be getting strap lock implants to directly attach my basses to my body. I think this will improve my connection to the bass and elevate my playing to mediocre.

My dorsal fin is nobody's business!

OK, each bass has one and only one strap. The straps are dedicated to the bass. I got a white strap for my white thunderbird because I figured it would look good regardless of anything else. I have gone for a black and white motif on that bass. If the fingerboard were not that dark, I would consider staining it darker.

Oh, and SHOE!!!

Of course!

I was under the impression that tomorrow (Sunday) is underwear change and avatar change day, NOT string change day.
I have used the EB hybrids with good results.
Oh.....nice shoe by the way.....
