What head are you feeding into the 1510.... and does that set-up make the Bird fly ?

I'm using a Portaflex 350. Just for quiet home practice and disturbing the neighbours. I keep thinking that I need to get one of these:
Vox - MV50 AC Miniature 50W Amplifier

I also keep thinking that I will eventually get an Orange Bass Terror.

Are there any amps that don't make a bird sound good?

Will certainly try. Haven’t been in years. Did some Uni at Edinburgh in ‘77/‘78. Fell in love with punk. Backpack and trains everywhere. Wales was so cool. Went back in early eighties for five weeks. Other than a couple days here and there in London going and coming from somewhere else, haven’t been back.

I’ve been playing the Texas Country circles for a while but I’m told it’s now just called Texas Music. I just started with a rock/soul/country artist named Mason Lively but I’ve been playing with a number of others before him.

What part of Chicago were you in?

I was in the city proper, and bounced around to different neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Printer’s Row, Old Towne and East Lakeview.

Do you rest your playing hand's wrist somewhere in upper bout's dip ?

Yes, I use an extra long strap or a strap extender. I'm pretty much exclusively a finger player and I have a tendency to hover between the neck pup and the neck heel. I also found that a floating thumb technique, which is what I use, forced me to move my right hand and forearm location around a bit more from note to note than an anchored thumb technique. Kinda cuts down on the repetitive motion a bit.

I lived in Lakeview in the late 70's-80's. Centered between Belmont and Ravenswood El.

I did! But in February 2018. Great show. You? I love his songwriting, so I've seen Jets to Brazil and forgetters a bunch of times.

Nope. Never had the pleasure. I was happy to see them getting back at it. They kept the punk side in me going in the early nineties. And yes, he writes great songs.

I got her to help me get non-committally reacquainted with Birds. I had an Alpine White Classic Pro IV a few years ago which I loved very much and it really broke my heart to sell her, but I just couldn't find a decent-looking comfortable playing position. I even had fretting wrist problems at one point and had to stop playing almost 2 weeks. I really miss that bass and if things go well, planning to get another Classic Pro IV or Vintage Pro, maybe even a Gibson, who knows at this point. I have faith .

Really proud to be back on this thread, which I watched from afar for the last couple of years. TBirds owners have a special devotion to their bass !

I strung mine BEAD for a while because I wanted that Bird sound but needed to go low for a specific song on a project. I thought it sounded amazing and I didn't have any string tension issues or any neck or tuning/ intonation problems at all.

My crush Nikki in SIlversun Pickups uses one tuned BEAD for certain songs.
