Thunderbird Club

Watched it for weeks. They lowered the price and I got way interested. Feeling pretty good about it. The shop’s info says they're also the home office of Babicz Full Contact Hardware and Babicz Guitars. Listed as near mint.
If that is true, you cannot get much more reputable than that. You might not even have to do any set up to speak of. That would be a bonus!

Yeah, back in the early 90s I got access to the internet by being a grad student (at 9600 bps!). The killer app was email; could directly contact professors, other students, administrators, etc. Could browse what little there was on the web with Lynx. Usenet could be odd.

I don't even know if there are any sources for usenet any more. I suppose the utility of usenet was usurped by specialized, web based message systems (such as talk bass) that appealed to narrower interests and were much better controlled and policed. As an example, in the sub-domain basses/thunderbird club, discussion could be (but doesn't have to be) limited to Thunderbirds and basses resembling Thunderbirds. Usenet must have had at least one Thunderbird related group (probably somewhere in the music.* domain)
Yeah, at the time all that was available to me was a VMS account, but for part of the time my brother was there as a grad student, so they and comp sci majors could get Unix accounts. I used his.

alt.bass.thunderbird ?

Edit: I had a 2400 baud modem, but with V.42 bis compression, so text came in at 9600.

As promised, a pic of my band last night in SF playing my Coral Deluxe Bass - (sorry, no THUNDERBIRD ...)

Born and raised in Miami. Post Andrew pics were horrific and it was hard to recognize locations.
I remember trying to drive down Bird Rd through Coral Gables... had to turn around. Every banyan tree in the middle island of that stretch was laying on its side. Looked like Godzilla had waded down the street and laud them all down.
The big radio tower by US 1 into Cutler Ridge was laid over on the ground. Large sailboats in the middle of fields.

The Cutler Ridge Mall was flattened-including a donut shop that had key lime filled donuts. At night I played my THUNDERBIRD at a hotel in Hallandale Beach.

nice! what cab is that?

It's my '76 B-15 with upgraded late 60's JBL speaker. (sounds like Gods voice) I used the Ashdown 550 Spyder you repaired and it sounded/performed great! This was it's first full-through performance since I bought it 5 years ago! In this pic (1st song - instrumental) you can barely see a 1/2 filled glass of scotch I set on top of my amp head. :rollno: I should have known better as it vibrated off and broke on the stage mid-song. A expensive mistake as I only had a couple of sips of it. (Glenfiddich) It spilled on the grill cloth (which I installed in place of the stained original) so I broke it in last night as well! :)

Instead here's a recent recording we recently did of that instrumental - (Point Break by The Bambi Molesters - Croatian surf band) The Coral is featured.

UPDATE: replaced - hope this one works

Yep. My thoughts exactly. As you well know, the wait and anticipation is driving me nuts. It’ll be a while before upgrades happen. In the back of my mind, I’m thinking chrome Babicz (I don’t windmill) and Chrome Thunderbuckers. No idea about tuners. But you all will have input.
