I have a black epi bridge for saleYeah, not risking a whole lot to give it a try, at least!I might have to have a decal made - "Epiphony Blunderturd" perhaps.
Got one already, as it just happens. Lots of spare parts about, sometimes they're even the right ones.
Yeah, looks like they tried to sand it out, also something left on 3 5 and 7. It's shipping body and neck separately, actually, so I'm glad it's not a set or through neck.
Well Gibson did issue the memphis 335 bass, but that was custom shop, not necessarily the smallest price tag for a semi acoustic bass from gibson
But honestly, i wish Gibson or better yet epiphone, re re issue the eb-2/Rivoli bass. Always loved those basses. But they gotta be short scale like the original, for some reason, i don't associate semi hallow basses with long scale, much like eb0s/3s The Epiphone eb0 is short scale while teh eb3 is long scale. It just feels off having an sg bass thats long scale to my preference.
& with that, i'm off to glue in some frets & file the thunderbirds fret ends & paint the fretboard sides. Later!!
The price tag on the ES 335 bass is a concern, particularly if you aren't in the US and on the wrong end of the exchange rate, as I was when I bought mine.
They are very good basses and the long scale length, centre block, the pickups and their position are the big factors I think. I am ultra happy with mine. The bass sounds like a TBird but smoother and warmer. I think a budget version would be a hit with these features.
BTW I notice the position of the neck pickup in the pic you posted is significantly different to that of my ES 335?
This one is pretty and you have all seen pics of my black one, so I thought I would post this. It is the same as mine in pickup position.

This is the one you posted and it is more like a two pickup EB2 in pickup position. Bridge looks to be in a slightly different position. Also can't see binding- I wonder if it is a prototype or a knock off?

I do have a set of SGD pickups for that on eBay.
I saw that on eBay too. After much searching and deliberating, I am the proud owner of a Epiphone Thunderbird TV Silver bass. I know a lot of people complain about the pickups, but I kind of liked them compared to the regular Gibson ones I tried on the Classic Pro. I was lucky enough to find this since the nut width is like a Classic Pro/ Gibson instead of the regular Thunderbird IV (1.5 vs. 1.73). So how do I apply for a club member number?

Maybe, thanks, but the seller already routed the holes larger, not sure what will work best.
The neck in the top pic looks set into the body much further than the neck in the bottom pic. That might explain the bridge and pup locations as well. Maybe not exactly as I first thought, I have just had a closer look- the top one is a 20 fret neck (like mine and all the other ES 335s I have seen) and the bottom one is 23 or 24 fret, I think. My eyes aren't great. Yes, you are right, the bottom neck is actually set further out of the body for the 20 frets, but is longer overall. That is why the bridge is a little further forward too. Might find the pickups are in similar positions in these two basses relative to nut and saddles.
This allows access to a further two frets, I am guessing now it was a prototype or something.

Work tonight didn't go as i thought it would, having major trouble with fretting the thunderbird at some places so i'll let it be for the night & just finish the grabber & my white pbass Sheena this way i'll only have to focus on the bird tomorrow. Hopefully i'll get to paint it as well.

If you drill holes for the tailpiece, you should definitely also drill holes for the bridge pickup ring...
What about the pickguard - Are you keeping the original, or are you going to put on one of your own ones on it?
