Anvil was a good hair-metal band. Lipps continues to play shows as he can.
The documentary is a bit sad, but it points out that in music, at least as important as being competent musicians is sustained hard work, some luck, and being in the right place at the right time. And once on the success pathway, the business decisions are at least as important as the musical decisions. Faltering on business is almost always lethal to the project. There are bands that were as good and never got the opportunity at stardom that Anvil got. Having read a number of music biographies, what strikes me is that it takes a lot of sacrifice, and hard work - ten years or more - to get a whiff of success. The vast majority of people can't conceive of working 7 days a week for little or no pay for 10+ years to have a chance of success.
