Thunderbird Club

There are a few guys here who really know their stuff on amps and may be able to provide some guidance. Post back when I find the problem. I'm curious!

I hope the Seahawks do well this year. Not as well as the Ravens, however. Lamar played here in Louisville and is fascinating to watch. Have a great practice!

I'm not hopeful on the Seahawks this year, they've won games but they don't inspire much confidence in me.

Hmm...
No neck-dive since I started using this strap...

Good afternoon everyone, I hope all are having a great weekend. I am wondering what I was thinking agreeing to rehearse at 5 this afternoon. Actually it was the only time everyone could get together, and as this is largely a new group with a gig coming up fast, will make it work. It will mean missing the Seahawks game later today. This fairly dysfunctional group needs to come together and soon. I was considering using my little Ashdown through a Rumble 2X10 as my stage monitor. It is light enough even with my my neck trouble I can schlep it. I posted in the amp forum, and have emailed Ashdown, but if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. I love the little amp, but it has an extraordinary amount of hiss in the gain stage. Basses, cables, nothing seems to help. Anything above 9:00 o'clock on the gain produces enough hiss to make it virtually unusable. I am planning on swapping out the tubes, but any advice would be most appreciated. I hope everyone has a great afternoon. Go 'Hawks.
never worked on that model but from the pic;

it would seem the tubes are easily accessible (six screws? with possibly some in the back).
Can you describe the hiss? is it like a SHHHHH?....or like a high pitched whine? dirty tube sockets or improperly seated tubes can be the reason for SHHH type hiss..

Same here on my Fender and Squiers. But a little harder on a Bird for me, perhaps arm length being a factor, who knows. I'm no giant at 5'11", but still, wouldn't have figured this to be an isssue.
I am only 5'-10", but have a simian wingspan that is over 6'. It helps. It also helps to sling the bass low and tip the neck up. Everything is an easy reach that way. The downside is that you have to pay attention or you will end up playing the strings in different aces with your plucking hand. At the extreme, the g string can fade out because you end up playing too close to the bridge for it to have any breath. (Cue up PillO.)

The eBay seller responded about the black pickguard with the gold logo. He has 10 in stock (I bought one, so nine left). Here's the eBay listing number...

PS - @Border and @MCF , somehow you two got dropped off the multi quote I just posted, so here's your heads up on the pickguard.
Link didn't work for me.

Yep. They are the worst double digit winner ever. Plus everyone is injured. I am still rooting for them all the way until the end. When they are done, I will lose interest.

I made the mistake once of getting too involved with my truck. I ended up throwing good money after bad at it. There comes a point of diminishing returns. We have to know when we’ve reached it.
Pulling the fingerboard, replacing the truss rod and reinforcing the neck is a big bill, but it’s not like something else is going to wear out and cost a bunch more.
