Thunderbird Club

You need a passport for those two. Decent amount of the East Coast, actually.

210s seem way more plentiful than 212s. I'd love to keep it smaller like that. Power is the question. Will I be lacking anywhere.

Seeing as we're talking about the sound reproduction of THUNDERBIRDS we should be able to do this here. My 'problem' with 210s isn't necessarily bass extension (which is dependent on physical design factors, not diameter), it's more that they probably aren't going to move a lot of air. Given a choice I would always go for 4 x 12s or 2 x 15s -- although the 212 is thunderous enough for my needs.

There are plenty of compact and lightweight 212s*. Then again if you are going to have PA support and only need a stage monitor 210 is prolly fine -- TWO would be better.

* Smaller and lighter than the 29kg SVT212AV, which I wanted because it's 4Ω.

Good afternoon Chucky, and thanks for the reply. No AC power in, or any other in beside the 1/4 jacks in the one photo. I do not know how old they are, but if they work, and getting them powered isn't too much of a hassle, I may give them a try at our next gig.
yep, not powered as suspected. you’ll need a (at least) 300W (150 + 150 into 8Ohm) amp and you can use the “Monitor Out” jack on your mixer to drive it. You can also run them parallel in mono config (which is more standard since most monitor outputs from a console aren’t stereo) Good Luck and keep us posted!

Hello Gaolee, I am hoping to use them with the cover band I am a part of. A good portion of our gear went with the drummer when he retired, and we are taking stock of what we have among us. I inherited these, and am not certain if they are worth getting a power amp and a pre amp to use, or just getting new ones. We don't gig that often, and at present don't have anything booked until early May.
I used to live in your neck of the woods. Loved the city, got tired of the traffic. It wasn't a good fit, as I was living south of the airport and working north of the U. I still love to visit and have friends and family up and down the sound.
If you end up with a power amp, then you can run those and new ones if and when you decide to get them. I prefer passive monitors because you don't have as many cords to contend with. Just the signal cable. Look on Craigslist for a power amp. There's always somebody selling something that will work.

It depends on whether you include Flea in your sampled musicians.
Which is similar to sampling the dogs.

I think Courtney Audain was the first bass player I saw play so high I thought the bass would choke him. Worked for him; drove me nuts when I tried.

Good question. I'll have to start calling around to the clubs. I was thinking more of being self-sufficient and then going from there. Good to know a 210 would be good enough for News Cafe. That's really helpful. Since I've always usss crappy NYC house rigs, I never had to plan anything like this.
I can bring something if it'll help, though I figure you'll want to show up prepared- you're doing several shows/stops I'd presume?

So for @dagrev and all you Coffin Case lovers... this isn't a bass case. It's what I use with my Goth Flying V guitar. The standard IV fares a bit better but not much. I'd have to rip out the accessory compartment to use this for the bass. The bass case might fit, but I wouldn't bet on it. (I'm waiting to hear from Coffin.) -Imelda

Edit: I should have made sure the lightning motif strap showed better and made a "shock the monkey" joke.

In other news, I won a wrestling match with my ears and closed the youtube tab in my browser. Otherwise I would have been searching for a specific video of the early Jackson 5 or something when I realized the sun was coming up.
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
You're killing me, Miles! I mean Imelda.

But Imelda would never wear a moose robe and monkey slippers. Have you no shame man?

This is what it's looking like: Providence, RI; Littleton, NH; Burlington, VT (need a venue); Kingston, NY; New York, NY; Jersey City, NJ (need a venue); Philadelphia, PA (need a venue); Wilmington, DE; Harrisonburg, VA; Asheville, NC.

What style of music? I might be able to make a recommendation for Philadelphia.

Seeing as we're talking about the sound reproduction of THUNDERBIRDS ...

I prefer moving more air as well, in fact I have since felt a little sorry about losing my Xsonics 2155C. That did an interesting trick of being fairly polite onstage, but throwing like a medium sized cannon at 20 or 30 ft.

The trade-off was portability and no-think setup, which is a plus with my hectic head these days. And the GK gen-1 MB212 is pretty loud... still either of the small rigs I now have- a Trace head/210 and a GK 212 combo- each do well for the music I'm playing. I'm doing spartan/budget/get 'er done lately. No frills, except the small functional pedal board.
But for a small tour with PA I'd be good to go.
