There sure seems to be a difference in opinions on the feel of the Cobalts. I've had at least three sets and personally find them very smooth and pretty much the same surface roughness as any other flat I've tried. Not quite as smooth as Tapes but not agressive in the slightest. I always kink my strings before clipping them to length and wonder if those that find them rough maybe skip this step. I suppose if you don't kink them first you could potentially have a situation where the windings loosen up a bit and create small gaps in the windings, that could make them feel rougher. Just a thought.I guess there's been some QC issues. I have them on 2 basses(and had them on the EpiBird 5er). Love the tones and the texture.
Ya mean like this?

So for @dagrev and all you Coffin Case lovers... this isn't a bass case. It's what I use with my Goth Flying V guitar. The standard IV fares a bit better but not much. I'd have to rip out the accessory compartment to use this for the bass. The bass case might fit, but I wouldn't bet on it. (I'm waiting to hear from Coffin.) -Imelda
Edit: I should have made sure the lightning motif strap showed better and made a "shock the monkey" joke.

In other news, I won a wrestling match with my ears and closed the youtube tab in my browser. Otherwise I would have been searching for a specific video of the early Jackson 5 or something when I realized the sun was coming up.
I have always been curious about themThose are just about my favorite pickups. They are nothing like Gibson Mudbuckers, and aren't a whole lot like Thunderbird pickups. No matter, they are fantastic pickups.
Yup,You guys are killing me. Six months ago I would never have entertained the thought. Now I’m wondering too.
I am very callous!you guys need callouses..
No, I have enough unfinished projects of my own. That one has the neck at a weird angle.Yours now?
I was about to post a picture of it, but I wouldn’t want the tort to cause @Gaolee to lose his breakfast.Sounds like something Prince would have played. Or is it a fish hook bass?
Mine was staples. That was the only case I ever found that fit my Bach NR. HUGE case tho.
There is no need to "rip out" the accessory compartment. Two small screws and it lifts right out and no one would really notice anything was missing because the bottom padding runs the entire length of the case. I had to do that to mine and it was a non-issue.
I have 'em on my Les Paul Bass-I have always been curious about them
Yup,
I wonder how a 5 Banger set would sound especially a low B of .130ish??
Cool,I have 'em on my Les Paul Bass-![]()
Careful with the Jamie. It’s addicting. Did a of the distillery last summer and it has become a favorite. The standard triple distilled is tasty. The caskmates are wonderful. But pricy.Ya mean like this?

Crazy thing is that I only had a gig back for the EB-2 for about twenty years. Somehow, it managed to escape harm. Proof that God looks after idiots. The idiot learned, and now it lives in its case when it's not out to play.....for the “others” (thunderbirds) I use the Big T Heavy Bass gigbag...explorer shaped, but fits rev and non rev birds.... my epiphone rivoli sleeps in his JC case, no gigbag....
apparently not where it counts...I am very callous!
Only have the one set, on the ‘15. kinked before clipping and installed per the weird included instructions. Winding them onto the skinny bird posts wasn’t fun; they’re really stiff. No issue at all with them not being smooth. I promised they’d get a long fair try. I like the feel, don’ mind the stiffness, but I’ll will be moving back to rounds when I get around to it. Can’t describe it exactly, but something is missing in the tone down low. There sure seems to be a difference in opinions on the feel of the Cobalts. Wow, all you folk dissing the Thunderbird bridge pickup. What a shame. The bridge pu on my Classic Pro sounds AMAZING with the tone at about 50%.![]()
I have the Bach gig bag for the NR. Really nice bag. When I got the bass it came with no case but I was told Bach made a hardshell for it. When talking to Roman he told me all they had left was the gig bag. Did you ever see the hardshell case from Bach? Did it ever exist? That was the only case I ever found that fit my Bach NR. HUGE case tho.

Yep. That's the one. Mine was red and got over 50 mpg on the freeway. It's the only car I ever bought new, so I was kinda anal about record keeping. We sold it to rebuild our bathroom. It was just a car.The one with the clamshell tailgate? Looked like pacman going backwards...
