Thunderbird Club

I searched youtube and found 10 really different versions of Wichita Lineman by REI, Kool and the Gang, The Meters, Johnny Cash <not very good at all~ and by Rita Wilson & Cassandra Wilson. (no relation!) And this cool version by the Dells -

Any song that both Johnny Cash and the Meters would do is automatically a great song.

I was about to post a picture of it, but I wouldn’t want the tort to cause @Gaolee to lose his breakfast.
Nah, I would get hungry for lunch, and there's no deli around here close enough for a salami sandwich. So, I appreciate your kindness, just for a different reason.

The guy who sold me the Gibson RD on Reverb never took the plastic off the pickguard and had no idea that there was a storage compartment in the case, so it came with all the case candy in all the original packaging.

That's awesome, sir! At least- for you!

Only have the one set, on the ‘15. kinked before clipping and installed per the weird included instructions. Winding them onto the skinny bird posts wasn’t fun; they’re really stiff. No issue at all with them not being smooth. I promised they’d get a long fair try. I like the feel, don’ mind the stiffness, but I’ll will be moving back to rounds when I get around to it. Can’t describe it exactly, but something is missing in the tone down low.
That's exactly what I found with Cobalts on my 2015 as well. Switched to heavy gauge Taper wound Black Beauties and am Lovin the sound and feel.

I was initially glad to see a Johnny Cash version but frankly I couldn't get through it. Like having Bob Dylan do a version, which luckily he never has.

Happy Friday everyone, I hope your week has been good. I am hoping for a little advice about monitors. I literally know almost nothing about them. The monitors we have used went with the drummer when he retired. I inherited these two and am likely going to try using them. Anyone familiar with them? I am told I need a pre amp to power them. Any suggestions? The only "preamp" I currently have is an MXR Bass Preamp that I use as a DI. Any suggestions, including sell 'em and get new ones would be greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone.

Along with pretty much everything Glen Campbell did in the mid to late 1960s. I still go back and peruse his catalog.

But... I didn't realize Johnny Rivers did "By the Time I get to Phoenix" first. Another winner. Or that Don Ho first did Galveston. Or that later, Isaac Hayes covered BtTIGtP. (19 minutes worth!) Wow. Go wander youtube and Wikipedia to fill in the blanks in your music history.

Meanwhile, for bass-driven, multi-instrument light rock, here's some nice, gooey goodness:

I love that version. Great song.

Wow! Who knew? Kool and the Gang, huh? Going to have to look that up--purely out of curiosity.
