It's like have a double album on your 'automatic' turntable - first - side 1, disc drop - side 2, flip both - side 3, discs drop - side 4.

It's funny how different string companies do it. Individual envelopes, colored ball ends, numbered beads (La Bella), this. I think SIT's is the weirdest.I guess some people can’t tell gauges apart and it’s cheaper than individual envelopes?
Yes! Only album I think I have with that is the Heavy Metal soundtrack. It's like have a double album on your 'automatic' turntable - first - side 1, disc drop - side 2, flip both - side 3, discs drop - side 4.
Yeah. Pretty honkin huge.

Oh, sorry. Wrong thread! Carry on.This is for the bass pickups, not clothing.
Oh, no doubt. But as great as the Heavy Metal soundtrack is, I don't think it was on the level of being in danger of getting released by the likes of MFSL.It was a really great design for extended play - audiophiles would have a heart attack just thinking about two LP's stacked together...![]()
Nice! Where did you get the body!
I'm seeing a pattern here! Pretty colors both.

Well, not just any flatwounds will likely do. Are those Chromes or Legends? I can't really picture Chromes sounding good on a Thunderbird nor do they represent a good flat string, but who knows.Ok, let see what all this “flatwounds on a Bird” fuzz is all about...barely intonated....the three points really are a pain in the culo to fiddle with...

Do it! Do it! Do it! It's one the best kept secrets of Thunderbird playing. You guys are killing me. Six months ago I would never have entertained the thought. Now I’m wondering too.
Strings are really one of the cheapest ways to try changing your tone, sometimes drastically.Do it! Do it! Do it! It's one the best kept secrets of Thunderbird playing.
Custom Craft? Tell me more...I use gig-bags exclusively for rehearsals/gigs - only one bass I play is too big for any gig-bag, so I made a HSC for it.

Any reasons as to why the single pickup sounds different than just having the bridge turned off? Which is a great sound, for sure.I like two pickups for a lot of reasons, but there are those who remove the second pickup if it's there to start with. Also for a lot of reasons. The consensus is that there is a difference between a single pickup and two pickups, even if you turn down the bridge pickup volume completely.
