Which, after consulting with Gibson about the serial #-519096-is apparently a 68. Their uses of serial #'s was(is?)rather haphazard. People at Gibby said that that number meant it coulda been a 65 or a 68 and since NR's were made from 66 to 69, I guess it's actually a '68. When I bought it in 73, I was told it was a 67, so I've just gone with that. And I will continue to refer to it as a 67 just like the 2013 NR's were built in 2012. I'm too old a dog to change all the references now.I would really like a vintage NR. Any, really. But since Scott seems to be the magnet that attracts them, the rest of us just look on from the sidelines. And GonePlaid conveniently doesn't remember promising to give he his '67!

Yeah, I already fixed the atrocious strap button placement (moved to heel), added flats, added some prettier knobs.

I'm going to order some pinstriping brushes, and start practicing.... I'm thinking gold and red...
the kill "switch" is pretty silly, I think I have a momentary off button around here somewhere, and I know I have 25k blend knob.
-or- change the kill to a selector and keep the vol/vol/tone

I learned many basses ago to never say "This is my last bass" because there is no way for me to promise that. You never know what might turn up when you least expect it. My wife learned long ago not to ask me if I am selling a bass when a new one arrives. I USED to always say I was going to sell one to make room for the next one but after a while it was obvious to me that if it wasn't crucial to sell something, I wasn't going to. That is why I have a stupid amount of basses.
I identify with not initially intending to amass a "collection" of basses. Recently I narrowed it down to (about) 12 that were the bottom-line keepers. I would be content with that, and my SO would be very happy with that. So now that I started that ball rolling, the goal is to 'follow through'... eventually.
It's a 66 body with a 67 neck but a 68 serial number. You know, like the Johnny Cash song, "One Piece at a Time".

But decided I'd ride this virus wave out first to see where we end up. In the meantime I modded the FrankenGoth for my daughter...
Reversed headstock came out pretty nice.

Pinstriping done right is a real art form. You might be surprised how cheap you can get a pro to do it for you and how quick they can do it. I used to have a black Strat that I once took to a friends pinstripe shop. He did a beautiful full body mono color silver pinstripe job on it for $50 and it only took him about 15 minutes. After it dried I shot it a couple of times with clear coat, looked sharp. Check out the custom car shops in your area, they'll know where you can get it done by a pro.

Yeah, I'm kind if the same. I prefer not to support imperialist régimes who go around invading countries, starting wars, and bombing hospitals, or give them any more wealth than they have already stolen. That's why I buy Canadian whenever possible.
