Thunderbird Club

eBay claims it has shipped! Due approximately 7/23...:hyper:
I'm really looking forward to finding out what you think of it and what it is all about. I have been intrigued by Suzi Quatro Thunderbirds ever since I first saw one for sale. With your name, it's only fitting you would be the person to have one.

4 of the 10 TalkBass users with the most likes for their posts are active TC members: @Gaolee , @JJR58 , @GonePlaid , and @JIO . Gaolee's even above @JimmyM ! Of course, Jimmy owns the number of posts lists.

And what's all this about trophy points?
I know it has nothing to do with trophy wives, cause i've never been married. :roflmao::laugh::roflmao:

I got a mahogany dowel at a local woodworking supplies shop.

…thanks, but I have some of mahogany at home…:meh:

They get awarded for various milestones (X number posts, X number likes, etc.) Some forums do things with them (for instance, you might have to hit a certain number of points before you edit/delete posts, or post in certain groups). Rumor has it that with TB, if you collect 4 million points, you get a free 1964 Thunderbird II while supplies last, but otherwise, they're pretty useless.

Well, as it turns out, all that shielding made an exactly 100% difference. :jawdrop:
However, I was wrong about the pre-amp being the main culprit. I grounded the shielding in stages, and there was no change at all, until I grounded the pickup cavities :bored:

Very interesting tidbit there!
Note to self - shield pup cavities first in the future. It's easier and may be enough to solve the interference problem. Learn something new here all the time, thanks for keeping us updated Kara.

Still pretty excited to see that Greco SQ bass when you get it. Don't know if it holds true across the entire line up, but my Greco sounds and plays as good (maybe even better) than any of my Gibson or Eppi TBirds.

Ah. Those must be the infamous hum-buckling pickups.

Nice work!

Very nice! Do you have formal training? Your work and methodology is impeccable...

You'd think it was a competition for the most likes or something.

Yep, that may be an interim step for me now...

Don't know that I'd go so far as to say impeccable :cautious:

But I do have an Associate degree in electronics (from almost 30 years ago, though). A long time ago I also used to do repairs on computers, TVs, and radios part-time while going to school. :bookworm:
Later I got roped into doing automotive wiring/electronics/computer diagnostics & repair for a bit :vomit:

So, I know enough to know which end of the soldering iron is the hot end, but not so good as to not burn myself with it occasionally :roflmao:
