Solder at the covers is a little different as well..I still wonder if they are made in the same place.Still a mystery I guess.

Thanks for the great info. I know when I took pics of my VP 760s they did look different enough to make be think they were not Chinabuckers. Curious for you to do a sound comparison and get your thoughts.

When those cats, and others, arrive they go straight into the recycling bin before I see them. And I don’t mind that. I’ve told them all to stop, yet they keep coming.

@PillO I used a VP with the DR Pure Blues today. Not ideal setting as the guitarist just got back from FL and he's isolating and drummer was sick, so it was piano, keys and me. The VP could easily have been a little too aggressive with that setting as the aggressive part wold be standing out more than with guitar and drums in the mix. I was hoping to fill in for the lack of guitar, but should have gone with the 06 Gibson for smoother sound, I think. It sounded good, but I kept wondering if I made the wrong choice. Anyway, the DRs were nice. Pleasant highs without harshness, really crunchy mids and decent lows. Not as big in the lows as Boomers in a big room it seems. They didn't work on the 06, but I can see them staying on the VP or even something else. Tension and tone seemed even across the strings while playing. Like any string, it's personal, but I like them and will find another bass for them if they don't stay on the VP.

Well, since neither one of you can agree--I should just do it and let you know later what bridge I used.:thumbsup:

Both would be winners in my book! I have both bridges (not on the same bass) and like each very well.

Yeah, I look at those. What would anybody ever do with one? Dunno, but everybody needs one in order to find out.

Yesss...that does sound very appealing! :thumbsup:

I'm pretty sure, though not 100%, if I don't stick with the white, it'll get something red-toned and metallic. May strip it (or, more probably, have somebody competent do it), and see what the woodgrain looks like. :nailbiting:
But then, if it's any good, I'd have to decide between an opaque finish, and translucent? Transparent? Not sure which terminology is appropriate....

Remember, Bab on the Gib and Hip on the Epp.
If you want to put the Hip on the Gib you need to be very clear when you're ordering it since it's different than the Hip on the Epp. Likewise Bab makes a special one for the Epp. In either case, be very clear when ordering either bridge and be sure to tell them what bass it's going on.

I'm thinking huge metal flake high gloss Ruby Red body and matching headstock with a baby blue neck. Along this line

What could look really nice, although not metallic, is that classic transparent matte red that SGs often come in.
