Thunderbird Club

So it's obvious i've missed a lot here. I lack the supreme motivation to even try to try, to catch up.
Vince recently sent me a text about something to do with Epi making an NR.
Has something to do with a bass player working with Gibson on the idea.
But in my traditional manner. i accidentally deleted that text.

Anyone here know, or have heard about this?

Rex Brown alluded to it in an interview.

That would be Rex (Pantera band) working with Gibby on a Gibby and Eppi model. Probably released at the winter NAMM is the guess right now, still no pics or specs or pricing.

Edit: nevermind, question was already answered, gotta love how my TB never updates until after I post.

Duplication is good, we need to drive the issue, I need contact info for Gibson so I can give them a few kernels of wisdom, I mean c'mon I've been a T Bird player longer than Mr. Brown (no offense intended) and have the pulse of the buying community.

I’m not sure what Watt’s deal with Reverend is. His Wattplower is on my GAS list and I think Reverend’s stuff is cool. And I don’t know if Watt is a big enough name. He probably isn’t. But I dream of an Epi Pelham Blue NR II Watt signature bass with the VP hardware. That would be the coolest ever. And a normal sized headstock. I’d buy at least two. Keep one stock and relic/mod one like Mike’s with a Bart pre-amp.

I haven't had the chance to play all the different Reverend bass models but the few I have played I really liked. I have a fairly rare mint Reverend Rumblefish 5L in Blackwood finish, I think they only made 4 or 5 of them...

It plays fantastic and was the first bass that I ever tried Flats on that I liked. It only comes out of the case a couple of times a year. The Wattplower II looks interesting, not sure how the pups work though.

Over the weekend I was coming to the same conclusion. I've never had any issues with Cobalt flat roughness, they seem "roughly" as smooth as any of my other flats. But after several days of extended playing on my Goth strung with Cobalts my fretting index finger is a bit sore, never happened before.
Welcome to the Princess Fingers club. You are #3.

Very nice!

I'd put a strap lock pin in it. Just because there's a pin there doesn't mean you have to use it. Several of my basses have a superfluous strap pin.

I had pretty much chalked it up to one of two things...
1) a potential slight Cobalt allergy. I've never had a metal allergy so the likelihood of that is low but is a real watch out. Once your body becomes sensitized to something it can lead to reactions with other related things that contain trace amounts of what you're allergic to. So I'm keeping a close eye on that one.
EDIT: PillO got there first.

A third member of the Princess Fingers Club maybe? You'd get to flash our gang sign! I formally make the motion. PillO has to second.

Save yourself time and aggravation. Just get the pre-drilled, shaped shims from these guys (who I usually don’t buy from because of price - on principle more than anything). But these are your solution.

Yes. I've not needed to shim any thing in years. Decades actually. But if I did, these would be the fix.

I’d love to see Gibson put out a neck through bird also my the lines of a studio model but, without the neck tilt. Like a Nikki six Spector. I’d buy one right now. The bird I built and have been playing is bolt on but, otherwise similar to that idea. It’s the most comfortable bird I’ve lays, maybe even better than the dingwall d-bid.

That may end up being the ultimate solution, but I don't have any extras laying around atm. The ones I took off were cheap crap, and got chucked.

Probably.

They might be in a drawer somewhere with other cheap crap; I often have issues with throwing things away...
