Thunderbird Club

I saw Motörhead open for WASP. Granted it was more of a co-headliner bill, but Motörhead played first. Good thing, actually, since WASP was so bad that it allowed us to leave early.

I saw WASP when Metallica opened for them. Ride the Lightning has just been released and Metallica was an up-and-coming band at the moment. They were definitely the best band that night.

This weeks episode of Derek Hoke’s show. Warning: TBird content :)

Love it, Mark. That's a great song and the musicians all around are really good, sweet tone out of the Bird and your rig.

I really like the lipstick singles sound. It also has to do with where they are positioned, as the neck pu is closer to the neck than a Jazz bass. Bridge pu is in a similar location to a Jazz. And stacked V/T V/T pots. Love both buckers and singles but the lipsticks are very mid-rangy which works for me as a palm-muting pick-player. That and the wider distance between pu's gives a more scooped sound that is signature Dano. You hear it clearly on "Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell's bass player. I dial the amp for bass, and the bass delivers the mids. Also for these vintage basses - unless they were parts builds, I restore them to as stock as possible.

I've posted this here before - but it's such a beautiful song it's always worth another listen.

Love the Danos. The tone works great with Glen’s Strat, too.

The Monkees opened for Jimi Hendrix one tour.

I would have killed to be at that show! (seriously) I can't imagine a better mix because that was me then - loved the Monkees - loved Hendrix.
