Thunderbird Club

I've been staying away from this thread in an effort to reduce my GAS for a NR T-bird.

This week , a drummer friend gave me the Geddy Lee bass book. In it was a NR Bird in Sparkling Burgundy.

:drool::wideyed:

It must be a very rare Bird, as I can find no pics of a Sparkling Burgundy Bird anywhere on the net.
Hope this helps.....Happy Holidays!!..:D..

Oh wow, that is just beautiful. I'd almost want to just hang it on the wall and look at it as much as play it. Gorgeous.
Thanks! Stay tuned. In a few days I’ll post some info, thoughts, etc. Gibby made a run of 400 short scale set neck Thunderbirds in a matte black finish in ‘11. The original owner had the front refinished in Silverburst by a reputable east coast shop with marvelous results. It’s a very cool Tbird. I was extremely fortunate to be able to get it.

if you like the Silverburst. start looking for an Epi Limited Edition Custom Shop bolt-on IV; they come up from time to time. Here’s a pic of my Epi:

My bird still sleeps. The painstaking set up to get it to intonate and not buzz for drop C with 115 string, makes me reluctant to put it back to standard, just in case the opportunity to do SOAD again or something else in such tuning again.

But I suppose a good image-y punk band might influence me to put it back to standard and bust it out again. Though that is not likely since I don't agree with the politics of the "active" bands in my area and their freedumb zones where the pandemic does not exist.

Or so you've heard....

I actually do have some experience.......... When we were younger we used to sleep outside in the backyard during the summer, most times without a tent, sometimes a lot of cheap beer intervened and passing out on the lawn, it was, after all, South Tacoma.

I had to look up SOAD....
I’ve done the same. Set up basses for different tunings in a specific band, then life happens and I don’t need that tuning. It’s one of the reasons I have many basses.

OH......you’re from Tacoma.....

NO, NO, NO! I was born in Eastern WA, after my folks divorced they both remarried and ended up on the west side, my mom in Seattle, dad (we we visited him) in Tacoma, that was because he was assigned to Camp Murray, Washington National Guard.

I'm down to 7 after 5 or 6 were stolen and I bought one to almost replace one of the stolen ones... Lost 2 fenders a Warwick an old peavey and a tricked out OLP. And had a stieney spirit and a Gibson SG bass stolen about 7 years ago as well.

Really screwed up my OCD system of different types and a backup for amlpst every type etc... Not to mention the sentimental hit.

Yeah if I could go genocidal on tweaker scum I would

Just write Geddy a Dear Santa letter.

Pics or it didn't happen?

Of my Dad kicking me in the ass for passing out on the lawn? It was the early '70s, cameras hadn't been invented yet :roflmao:
