I think it looks great without the PG. Do let it set a while. My '06 below came with a metal PG and TRC. At first I kind of liked it, but was so used to seeing white on Thunderbirds that it started to seem odd. I went back and forth a little and then left the metal on it and now it looks normal and I like it for being different.

I was surprised as well, half-expected to find anything from old picks to half-eaten Oreo cookies under the PG. As it turns out, only a few touch-ups required, the screws doing most of the cosmetic job.

I always thought @Chucky Stiletti 's Sunburst NR was quite the looker without its pickguard, so took this one's off, retouched the few marks around the screws and put them back on and this is the result... not sure about it being logo-less, but I'll let it simmer for a few days and see what comes up.

New strings arrived from SW today. Too late to put on for tonight's gig. My own damn fault. Shoulda ordered one day earlier. My bad. Oh, well, put 'em on tomorrow. They'll be strotch* out for Saturday's lame @$$ jazz gig.

Good call on the Hipshot gear, I have their XTender on all my basses except my newly acquired Thunderbird IV. For this bass, I might start with changing the bridge first (3-point), it's honestly the worst I've seen on Birds I've owned previously.

I remember renting that back in the "Blockbusters Video" days. The version I saw was 'censored' with the backs of edited in hooded figures blocking the 'naughty-bits' (as Monty Python would say) in the sex scene. I thought that was so ridiculous because the way Kubrick staged/shot it was deliberately un-sexy and sterile. Leave it to religious right to make something provocative when it wasn't at all by design.
