thinking a black sticker could work as well... @MCF was talking about doing that with his PB NR...if so, it'd be cool to swap and see....hey George, incidentally, been meaning to ask, did your BaCH have the hollow (crappy) black nut when you got it?
It's the nut that was on the bass when I got it. I'm at least the third owner of this bass, so no telling if someone changed it out for a better black one. All I can say about it is it looks pretty cheap and the strings sit really low in it, might be hollow as well, IDK. When I get around to it I plan on having the nut professionally replaced with a brass one or possibly a black Graphtec.

My bigger concern is the bridge that doesn't have any grooves cut in the saddles. Apparently a number of them came that way from the factory. If I get agressive on bends the string actually slides across the face of the saddle. So a bridge and nut job ar in order for this bass.

wish i would have kept it...picture a hollow black plastic extrusion (walls about 2/10" thick) with 4 grooves cut into the top for the strings...pretty bizarre..
Like this?

yeah, I had a bone one cut for mine...BIG difference..

BIG doings at Casa Gone Plaid!*
The 67 NR. I had EBCF's 45/65/80/100. I took those off(more on that momentarily)and put on a set of EBCF's 50/70/85/105. A little heavier without requiring minor surgery.
Next, I used alcohol on a cotton ball to wipe down the EBCF's I removed. I then removed the really old set of D'Addario 1/2 rounds, which had been taken offa the LPB2/5, from the recently acquired Epi EB-0. Then I installed the EBCF's from the 'Bird onto the EB-0. Both tuned F/Bb/Eb/Ab for a day or 2. at which point they'll have strotch.
While the necks were bare, both necks were conditioned and both bodies polished.
Both basses look and sound better. Which was kinda what I had in mind in my original thought process.

*not really
Changing strings? Is that what you did? Um. I have never heard of such a thing on a bass.
