Thunderbird Club

Maybe I've been looking at this a little narrow-sighted, I like the guys' accentuating/coordination ideas. Might help me find the right strap for that white Jazz, other than the burgundy one I've seen selling for 198$ CAD on Amazon. It's a strap for goodness sakes, it don't make cappucinos... The Yammy's strap is also work in progress, but that bass might be traded for something else later this spring. Or not. Other "thing": I like my straps to differ from bass to bass... o_O

Those sunny straps are a bit of a thing for me and my daughter. I gave her one when I bought her a little Fender parlor acoustic and I still have a few others for acoustic guitars, when I need to use a strap. The best one is dedicated to the Epi ES-335.

Interesting. I don't think I ever played through an Acoustic FH (had a combo early on). As I recall the one's I played through were black. Cerwin Vega comes to mind, but maybe because they were a good number of them around.
I knew the history and all that at one point, but I have forgotten. The first ACC folded horns were Altec or Cerwin Vega or something. I don't remember, but I know that my 360 is one of the first few made, and it has its original driver. Mine has been reconed. Most of them got replaced because they failed. They then went from whatever it was they were using to a different driver. I only think they made a hundred or so with the driver that didn't work that well. Maybe less. And, since I believe the driver in my amp is original even if reconed, it makes me a little nervous. But, I'm not filling a stadium. I just occasionally puree innards in bars. It does that very well. When the bass pumps out of a folded horn, you dance or you die. It's power baby!

The first ACC amp I ever got was the first serious amp I ever got. It was a 126 combo, and I still have it. It lives at a drummer's house in his basement where that band rehearses. Eventually, when the pandemic is over, I might see it again.

Has there been any consensus on what gig bags work for tbirds? I made a Sandberg 48, fenderbird thing and bought an epi explorer case and am regretting the purchase big time.

I'm starting to think a gig bag might be the thing to do. The bass is 49.5" long. Any help is appreciated. I did some searching but wasn't able to ascertain if there was a viable bag option.

Who makes the sun one?

definitely, cut my teeth with a 2000S into a Sunn 4x12...this one’s been available for sometime now ...will literally tear your head off with the right box...one of the few manufacturers with successful tube AND ss designs imho...

I saw one at a Music-go-round here once. Seriously considered it. You know what they say about a fool and his money are soon parted. Or a fool doesn't walk our with a Sunn is a fool.

Me neither.
My endpin sticks out too far for hijinx like in the 'Billy vid, it'd snap before I finished climbing on the "C" part of the bout, let alone the shoulder.

I had a bass with a 'peg', but it would only work in Am ... so I sold it to some punk who had a name for it, what I think the kids these days call an Ampeg.

As for matching ...
I got the strap, in grade school. Does that count?

I'm getting bizarre combinations of ads again. Hefty bags, women's clothing that looks like the kind of clothing women would buy for themselves and not the kind men would buy for them, sporting goods with camo, and electric Chevrolets. The bots of the internet are really confused about who I am when I am incognito. Or something. They probably know, just can't quite decide what that means. It's just fine that way.

Thanks for the cool history. I believe John Regan (Frampton) still uses a FH. Did when I saw them a few years back. Still could barely hear the bass. Is there some those who often work concerts can't hear?

A little ACC action here.

I've got one I was going to sell to JIO, but the shipping was more than the gigbag--by a lot! So I still have it if you want to drive down to Ky!;)

Go look at some shipping containers...

I've been using a Gator ProGo with my 2013 Thunderbird since I got it new and it's fantastic. It's more a soft case than a gig bag. Very protective. The key is to remove the inside detachable cushion. Not sure how your other basses would fit, but the 2013 Thunderbird just fits.
