Thunderbird Club

My two newest 'birds together....

You are just an endless romantic, aren't you, your Grace... (Lol, that's long-hand for "High Maintenance"!! :))

If my ASCAP royalties pay off my house, I'll buy it for you!

It may actually happen, am starting to look into it pretty seriously. It would be very nice to own one of the originals, the real deal while I can still play.

And now, for the main event!

I am not good enough with the word-things, so here's some pics instead :speechless:

Sounds great, very...bass-y? Less treble-y? Very similar in sound to my CP, I guess, and of course my other MiK T-bird, the one with flats. May be the "darkest"? sounding bass I have....which is awesome

Needs a bit of setup adjustments, and I just got in the newest set of DR neon reds, so those'll probably go on too.

I did notice the fretboard issue the seller mentioned (the reason why it's stamped "2nd", probably) - frets #15 & #16 are a bit low on the G string. Not much of an issue for me, but something I'll probably correct at some point (I do have some perfectly good brand-new fret wire just laying around....)

Oh, and of course,.....that color!:drool:
Congrats Kara! Beautiful! You may recall I’m a fan of the LE Custom Shops and have two of them. Would love a red one, a white one, an Ebony one and a TV Silver one to complete a set. I prefer them a bit brighter so I run Super Brights on them. May go to SIT Power Steels next string change for the Silverburst.

I get it. I remember holding an older Gibson Thunderbird once at Ed's Guitars off Bird Rd in Miami. I was a young player, not so savvy yet, still learning to own the instrument. It was a long piece of wood! (Ahem... I'll just go ahead and pre-empt @PillO...), I had no idea that its namesake would become my go-to assassin's weapon-of-choice someday. I would covet the opportunity to have that one now...

Well, other than the Mariners, there’s a lot to like about Seattle.

It's a horrible place, ya don't ever want to come here, especially in the Summer
Yeah, and then there's the Mariners, decades of suck, decades. We should reassemble the Kingdome and make them play there.

It's got RS66 nickels on it currently - it'll be interesting to see how much the sound changes with the DRs, since they're both nickel plated roundwound, and AFAIK, the only difference (other than the coating) being manufacturing style?

Interesting. My 2013 Gibson cases are white inside with no shroud.
You were cheated!

The 2013 EB's case is black with white inside, too. I guess they did that for a bit. The pixie dist 2001 and the 2015 both have brown cases with pink inside. The Flamingo is a 1991, and the case is the same, too, except the shroud is fleece instead of satin.

Gibson is an odd company.

Nah. The people are aloof, the scenery is lousy, the weather is worse, our roofs all leak, and flowers don't bloom. And nobody comes here any more because it is too crowded. The Mariners, as bad as they are, manage to be a bright spot in this barren, arid, soggy place. Make sure everyone knows and avoids coming here.

Did I forget anything?

Bite your tongue. I'd add "clean off" if I didn't consider you a friend. Never mind the other problems, most of Texas needs more water, not more people. Send 'em to Florida. Arkansas. West Virginia. Anywhere but here.
My son and his girlfriend will be leaving Dallas soon. They decided they didn't like it there.
