Thunderbird Club

I suppose we just have too many people in Cali. I wish more would leave to Texas and Florida.

Hah! Who can afford to live here? I predict a mass exodus in the near future that will make living here better (in some ways) for those of us who can hold-out.

And now, for the main event!

I am not good enough with the word-things, so here's some pics instead :speechless:

Sounds great, very...bass-y? Less treble-y? Very similar in sound to my CP, I guess, and of course my other MiK T-bird, the one with flats. May be the "darkest"? sounding bass I have....which is awesome

Needs a bit of setup adjustments, and I just got in the newest set of DR neon reds, so those'll probably go on too.

I did notice the fretboard issue the seller mentioned (the reason why it's stamped "2nd", probably) - frets #15 & #16 are a bit low on the G string. Not much of an issue for me, but something I'll probably correct at some point (I do have some perfectly good brand-new fret wire just laying around....)

Oh, and of course,.....that color!:drool:
That ruby red bird is quite possibly my favorite color on a bird yet! So glad you got this, now I can see it on a regular basis. FWIW. I wouldn't put DR Reds on it, wrong color red. I'd slap some Black Beauties on it instead or maybe some DR Silver Stars.

The Silver Stars might be interesting, and they seem to be the same string (essentially Sunbeams from what I can tell) under the coating.
The Black Beauties are different, but I may get a set to try them.

But for now, I've got a brand-new set of neon reds that need a bass to go on ;)

Custom made leather case is unique for sure but more of a "collectors item" of debatable worth. (to the right person) But the bass is in great shape -

They can keep the leather case.......I would never use such a thing for any Thunderbird, especially not a '60s II. The bass seems pretty nice so I'm turning over a few stones today :)

Nice! Some would say it needs another pickup (me :)), and some in So Fl would suggest covers!

That has the shiniest nickle pickup I've ever seen on a 60s reverse version.
The only thing it's missing is covers, so far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I'm in lust. Oh, well. It's Veronica's. It has to be.

I love Black Beauties on Thunderbirds. Same with EB Cobalt Flats. Bass Burners weren't my favorite right off, but after a few weeks of playing, they might be my favorite of all strings on the Flamingo. Tapes on the '15 seem to hit a sweet spot. I have forgotten what strings are on the pixie dust 2001, but it makes all strings sing.
