Thunderbird Club

So there's 5 studio albums (original lineup)?
For who? LS? Ish.
Ed King played bass on most or all of 1, then Leon returned and Ed moved back to guitar. Leon was on 2-5.
Bob Burns played drums on 1&2, then left and Artimus Pyle joined.
Ed King left after 3; Steve Gaines came in for 5.
Ronnie (vocals), Allen & Gary (guitars), and Billy (keys) played on 1-5.
So some changes, but a lot of continuity for a band that size.

My two favorite bands. At times I'm not always sure which I like the best.

Remember, for many redneck is meant as a derogatory term. It actually means someone who has to work hard outside. The common man. In other words, they don't have soft hands from a nice office job, which are likely the ones who started using it in a pejorative way.

They have some great words. Songs that tell a story. One you can actually follow and not wonder after 34 times what they are talking about. I also still find cool musical bits within songs that are amazing, but just not glaring. They were great at what they did.

waiting on a tech problem to be fixed at rehearsal tonight, I heard the intro start to Whipping Post. I looked around in surprise before realizing it was me.

The Bros are right up there, for sure.

In the part of the South that I'm from, at least, most consider the term redneck a positive, and those who fall into the category are generally proud of it.
Most of the places I've been in the South (other than maybe the biggest urban areas) seem to be the same.
It was definitely the case throughout the Deep South when I lived there (66-91).

I was using an MXR Micro Flanger for a while and really like it. I'm now using a Whirlwind Orange Box in its place, which is about as close to the original MXR Phase 90 as you can get. I really like it. Both work really well on bass. No perceptible loss of low end. I find the phaser works better for my use than the flanger right now.

I like my Phase 95, which lets you switch between Phase 45 and Phase 90. It’s an annoyingly small pedal, though.

Still a solid player and performer. Hams it at the 5 minute mark.

Jeff Pilson is most likely the (unknown) rock n roll soldier, I've always liked him, even when he looked like Luke Skywalker in that video. The guy is smart, a very solid player, vocalist and arranger - nice bit part in "Rock Star" as well, and of course there's a Thunderbird in that movie, behind glass no less.

Love this, he's just killin' it, no standing in the shadows!

Whata’ ya got to lose?
Space itself my friend, space.

Played the Epiphones tonight!

So sometime in the early 2000s I picked up an 85-87 Squier Jazz for something like $200 on eBay. Around five years ago I loaned it to a girlfriend whose son wanted to learn bass and only had an unplayable piece of crap. The relationship fizzled a while later but I didn't want to be a dick and demand the bass back. Plus, her son was a nice kid and I told her he could use it as long as he wanted. I finally got it back tonight and was surprised at how nice a bass it is! A bit smudged, but well taken care of, all things considered. It's almost like I got a new (used), free bass! My son is super excited because now he has his fretless Classic Vibe Squier Jazz and a fretted old Squier (that's more 60s style than anything else). Needs a tort guard though...

Oh, and my black Epi Vintage Pro gets here tomorrow. It's been a very nice bass week at my house!

But which Chicago?
I was lucky enuff to see the original 7 3x. And my daughter and I have gone to ~10 concerts with later line ups. There's only 3 originals left-Lee, Jimmy, and Robert-but the new blood has kept the vibe alive. May or may not see them again. Depends on their schedules and venues/prices.
