Thunderbird Club

They're charging about $15 more for bass shaped interior. I'm going to use it for gigging, s9 the rectangular shape isn't safe?

It'll move around if the case isn't form fitted, needs to be at least 50" inside measurement as well.

For putting under pickups?

Mine is about 50 1/2 inches (128.27cm?) Bottom to top, and about 14 1/2 inches (36.83cm?) across. Give or take a bit.
They're exactly the same a the Classic Pro, except for the headstock, which is larger on the VP.

Hope that helps :)
And they keep the wind and water out, too.

Sponges; a 1" wide piece of leather, screwed down on one side, small hole slips over a screw on the other; will hold the neck in place.

thank you, is this going to fit? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is it okay if the interior shape is rectangular, not bass shape?
Here are some pics of my Yorkville case. Hopefully it helps:

is it fit? Is it safe? Or should I customized it (extra bucks) @TBird1958 @GonePlaid

Yes, it's long enough and the bass isn't going to move around.

so it's safe enough? I don't need to pay extra bucks? Sorry for these question but it's going to be my first Thunderbird and I don't have any idea how to own a Thunderbird.

If it tucks in like the one in the picture, you'll be fine. I didn't see an inside measurement for the one you posted?

Do any of you guys have any experience with the Babicz FCH-1 Solorails?

I'm thinking of changing the bridge on my Pro 5, at some point, and I prefer the Babicz adjustment system - but the FCH-5 (5-string bridge) has .75" (19mm) string spacing, a bit more than the 11/16" (17.5mm) the current bridge has (might be too wide for the fretboard).

So, I was looking at maybe using the Solorails, which seem like they'll do what I want, but they're not exactly cheap ($60 each x5), so I'm trying to do a bit of research on them first.

The Solo rails look nice and I'm sure are built every bit as good as the regular Babicz bridge. A watch out might be grounding. You'll need a way to ground each individual rail, might work if you ground the first rail and have a metal vs bone or non conductive nut, or a single grounded thin sheet of copper foil that spans across the bottom of the five total rails.

Beautiful build! Lots of neat features built in. The string thru body design looks exceptionally cool and was probably much harder to layout and execute than a typical vertical drilled set. The safe standing, balanced 12 fret upper horn, and full fret access are also thoughtful touches with the end user in mind.

So many builders these days are either artists or engineers but it's rare to find someone that is in both camps. Your creations are as well engineered for the end user as they are artistic and pleasing to the eye.

Excellent job!

...Bingo! Dagrev, you're the man when it comes to string advice, you never steered me wrong and always been spot on with string suggestions.
Thanks! I'm seriously OCD about tone (if that hasn't been apparent by now!) and have spent more money on trying strings than I want to admit. I'm glad some of that experimenting has been helpful. And, I intend to try the Fender's again. I used t love the old style taper core E set. Why they changed it I have no idea.

Not completely Thunderbird related other than my birds sound very nice through it!!! This entered into my collection this weekend. All original 1973! It came from the original owner who bought it new in 73’! A sweet find! View attachment 4280395View attachment 4280396
Congrats! That was the first amp I ever played through. It wasn't mine, but got to use it on occasion.
