Anyone in Canada waiting for a NR Thunderbird; I have a bold prediction:
The new Thunderbirds will be available on 4 August.

How can I be so accurate in my prediction? I am having surgery on my fretting hand on 4 August, so that will invariably be the day they are available.
August 3. Just for a brief tease.

Well, Billy Duffy is making that White Falcon look pretty good.

FWIW I really like the sound he got from it, "Love" and "Electric" rank as a couple of all time fave albums for guitar tone/playing. I love the sound The Smithereens get from their Rickenbackers and AC/DC's Malcom Young got great tone from his Gretsch.

Billy's tone is also amazing in the Coloursound stuff.

We are here to enable. And it is a different beast. It is a little darker sounding than an EB with the same pickups, but it has a similar chameleon-like quality. Thinderbirds are versatile, but those are a whole 'nother kind of versatile. Mine is absurdly light and well balanced to go with everything else.
It makes sense that a Thinderbird would be light.

I have developed some pain playing my Thunderjazz, it's dull pain in the center of my palm. I have been playing MANY years, and back in the 80's had to quit playing my '66J (D profile) because of fretting hand cramping. I've avoided 1.5" necks ever since. The neck I put on my Thunderjazz is a 1 5/8" with a shallow profile, and up until now it has been a joy to play, and I practice at home with it. The second day I experienced the pain was a band practice day, so I practiced a little at home (pain again), and went to band where I use the ThunderP, which has a 1.6" neck with a slightly thicker profile, and didn't experience any pain.

Yesterday, tried the Thunderjazz again, pain again. Pulled down my '59 NOS CS P, 1.75" with shallow profile, and the pain went away.

Any suggestions short of not playing one of my favorite basses of all time?

Actually, this is the tone I was thinking of.

Is it feasible to swap out the Thunderjazz neck for something that is more comfortable for you?
