About a year and a half ago, before the lockdown, I was in a GC and found a well used but very well set up CP hanging on the wall way up high, used. They wanted something like $150 for it. The details are getting foggy. I thought about buying it and mentioned to the guy who got it down what it was. He got a funny look on his face and started playing it after I left. I suspect it went home with him. Ultimately, I didn't need or want another 'burst Thunderbird, and it's too similar to a Gibson even at that price. The black VP came to Seattle by way of the same GC. It was a different guy who brought it out of their storage room, and he was clearly a non-Thunderbird kind of guy. I don't think they even carry any Thunderbirds any more unless one filters in by mistake.

That, for me is the only advantage I've ever noticed. Some believe they notice tonal differences, but I never have even when listening for them. Well, my '64 can't seem be adjusted and has some back bow and 105s were just right to keep it straight. The nut is striped and doesn't seem to move. Now that I have extra nuts (I know), I may try to replace and try different strings, but the Enfelds seem perfect. It's had the obligatory repair, so I'd be hesitant to crank too much anyway, though if done right is stronger than before.

I think I would've been tempted to take it at that price, sort of like when I would see favorite artists/albums in discount record bins, I would feel the need to take it on principle. I sort of felt that way about the ebony lefty Thunderbird, but we're talking another decimal place.

The Inverness Green is stunning. It's very interesting seeing all the variation between the promo pics for the new NRs and seeing pics of ones people own. Very different, but all look great. As do the other two color options.

Might be the most unpopular choice, but the Sparkling Burgundy is strongly growing on me. And I liked it already.

I think Glover had more than one Thunderbird.......The one is this Vid is clearly different.




Let's not forget that this was done on a Non Reverse, played by the late Craig Gruber. His latter replacement is the band Jimmy Bain also used a '60s Bird.
