Cheap strings!"dammit, just spent $100 on a string" - every doghouse player
There can be more than one Flamingo. And there is!
Nashville has a great music scene. I’d bet you could find an open mike venue somewhere, you’d just have to bone up on your Rawhide and Stand By Your Man tunes. She likes to go for CMA Fest. They stay at the Marriott and wander from venue to venue. I appreciate County music, but don't know that I could take a whole week of it. They have a blast.

I want to know when that happens. You do spy some sparkle there! It is a refin. I spent a fair amount of money to get it shot in nitro. The refin turned up a bunch of issues where the bass was kinda pounded before the refin. Burst hides flaws that Burgundy Mist Metallic just doesn't. That's fine. 20 years from now, it will have more bumps and bruises and wear. It gets played a lot. It competes with the pixie dust 2001 for my favorite bass guitar. So is that a refinish you did or a factory colour? do I spy some sparkle in there?
Definitely still on-brand.New pic from new(flip)phone. Missed TT. Didn't get to AT&T Store to be able to send 'til today. Oh, well.

Yup. And outta focus.Definitely still on-brand.

Bad ideas are great topics here. Go ahead and ask!
Loved The Guess Who clip. Hope to never see the other two ever again. Would rather watch ABBA.![]()
There is a lot of good Zappa. That isn't one of them. It was actually pretty popular back in the day. I refuse to click on any Barry Manilow clip.
I love Barry - he's a helluva performer; while this may not be one of his best clips, he does throw a great show. My wife has dragged me to Vegas 3 times to see him and once in San Antonio. Well maybe she didn't "drag" me to Vegas (I would go willingly of course). Barry used to do 3-5 shows a week in Vegas for years and he's in his 70s. I get tickets to Aerosmith in Vegas and they cancel after 3 months of 3 shows a week cause Steven Tyler's voice is out? What the Hell? Then I check for plane tickets to see if I can catch the reschedule on the Saturday when we're supposed to leave and it's $1800 to change our flights. This was 2019. Kirshner was a great producer but on camera had the personality of a dishrag. Dick Clark he was not.The Guess Who was the only one I watched. The announcer was a hoot (unintentionally, I'm sure).
Good version, but would rather hear ABBA so it.

Once again these will become relevant...
It's been a few years since I built a bass, so decided to look in my parts cupboard to see what I had lying about.
I dug out a body I had made for a previous T-bird type build ( made from 2 pieces of sepele ) that had been painted a few times, so I stripped it back to wood.
Then I started getting "creative", shortened the shape, rounded off the back edge and power filed some "modern looking" chamfers on the edges.
Here's where it is now after several passes of hi-build primer and wet-sanding.

Mocked up a possible scratchplate design in card, which kinda works.

I have a neck set aside for it ( maple board with black block inlays ), a pair of Gibson Thunderbird pickups and some black Hipshot ultralights.
I'll source a nice black bridge then try and decide on a colour.
I initially thought blue or purple, but I'm expecting a Dingwall D-roc 5 string in blue to purple colour shift shortly, so need to come up with a different scheme.
