Thunderbird Club

not sure where they pull most of their prices from, that was pretty beat, don’t care if it’s one of 20 that year.

I’d rather have a new one for cheaper.
I'll take something like four new ones for the same price. Or three an swap the pickups if you want it to sound like a '79. One would sound like a '64, one like a '79, and one like a '01. Perfection! And you would have money left to refinish them, too. Maybe.

Solid plan. Does anyone make Bicentennial repro pickups?

When I was more impetuous I would often have pickups removed and new ones on the way before I even plugged in a new/used geetar.

I have mellowed a little over the years and very rarely do much more than simplify control layout.

spending hunnerds of dollars on pickups is less appealing.

hence my sig line.

Uh oh, Thursday carried into Friday.

Cool rig, sir !

That Broughton HPLP thing.... I'll be looking to replace my old fDeck HP3, the poor thing is holding on with courage and gaffer tape. I'm reading the Broughton is the way to go, even better than the old Thumpinators ?

That Broughton is a good piece of kit.
You will not be disappointed.

Here’s the Pawn Shop scene where a 1979 Thunderbird is sold by a bass player that bought it in Nashville. I guess that doesn’t mean he’s from Nashville but maybe he is…

@dukeorock, do you know this guy?

if they want to command that kinda money they should have flown our queen to Vegas for the item description/appraisal….thought these cats were a class act….

I love the Broughton HP/LPF that I have been using for a few years now.

Put her back together tonight…

kinda had a hate/hate relationship with her, doesn’t balance for poopie.

I moved the strap button to the heel, and maybe I’ll try some lighter tunas at some point.

she sounds great with MIM and MIJ pickups. Vol/blend/tone

experimental paint will get redone at some point if I keep her.

He was probably just looking for a little respect. Apparently he doesn’t get much respect, or so he says.
Lol, I never have to search far to find the THUNDERBIRD Club!
I was just wondering if someone can tell me where to get the "mod bar" that you string through at the back-side of the three-point bridge?

And how's everybody??

I’m good. Had a tooth pulled today (ancient root canal gone bad). Bit of a bummer, I thought I was done with those. But told the doc I didn’t want to be there while it was pulled, so he obligingly anesthetized me. Doing fine. Obvs going to have a chill weekend. More time for movies, writing, and … THUNDERBIRD!
How are you, Roger!?

I love that Easter Egg Grape!

Nope.

You love 'em or hate 'em, they're not like any other Bird pickup at all.
So true. I like mine. Sounds great with Roto 66s. To me, they sound kind of like a tamer/softer version of the 60s or a VP. They are pretty low output. Given some of the comments, I was wondering if the new NRs sounded a little similar.

Ouch! I was hoping a RC was the finial solution. Bad wording.... I had to have one through a crown a few years ago. Sure hope it stays fine. Don't blame you for not wanting a front row seat. I needed my wisdom teeth out years ago. Two of the four were basically horizontal and had to be cracked up and destroyed to get out. I know because I was awake.... The doc was going so fast with the shots to numb things he was like a machine gun. I stopped counting after 17 and he wasn't anywhere near done. That was one of my certified stupid decisions. My tonsils were so big he wouldn't put me to sleep anyware but a hospital because he was afraid I wouldn't be able to breath. So my options were hospital and sleep or awake in his office. I chose the office. Did I mention that was a stupid decision?

Hope you do well and it heals up with no issues.

What is the neck made of? I have a Warmoth Bloodwood on Wenge neck. It’s great, but very heavy! It needs a really heavy body to balance.
