I'm trying to figure out the different models and options on those Dingwall's, So it looks like the base model is a little more than the new NR's.

I might get one in leu of the burgundy NR I have on order....

So far the fanned thing kinda puts me off a bit, and the fugly pickups.

You could (not anytime soon), attach your ashes to the headstock of a Thunderbird and let that function as your trebuchet as a new Thunderbird funeral tradition. Then play Freebird.

I plan to be cremated. That would definitely be a waste of a bass. Unless it was an unsalvageable bass. Then it would be good theater.

I know a few around here really like the looks of them... not me, they're just weird looking and not in a good way for me.

I can understand subtle burst differences but the picture Epiphone is using to advertise the “60s” model is quite different than the VP. And so far every non-stock photo of the new 60s I’ve seen online the burst looks exactly the same as the VP.

I get with the name change they wanted to use new pics but I wish they actually looked more like what is being advertised. Maybe they exist but I haven’t seen it yet.

Or maybe Brown Eyed Girl, or maybe both. Then launch into the great yonder. Except that I don't see a need to expend the resources for cremation. Maybe some accelerant and then getting lit up for the trebuchet launch. A flaming exit into the great yonder. I like it a lot!

And that wasn't cranked...

And I forgot one more 15" driver. It's in the ACC 126 combo I leave over at where the cover/dad band rehearses. It is one I always forget even though I have had that amp longer than any other instrument or piece of music equipment. I got it in 1981, before even the EB-2. Unlike everything else, it's pretty forgettable. It just doesn't break, so it sticks around even though it doesn't sound all that great by comparison to other amps.

What does the spalted fretless P at the bottom sound like? Two single coil Precision pickups and two Filtertrons or something like those? I'm intrigued.

There's a member who picked up a '15 Gibson that has a light burst like that. Every other '15 I have ever seen has a much darker burst finish. So the only explanation I can come up with is that there's one 60s model that's got a light burst and whoever was in charge of taking pictures that day just pulled it randomly out of the inventory and took pictures of it. That would be a Gibson/Epiphone thing to do. A certain amount of random weirdness has always been a part of their thing.

If you want one that looks like that, it might be pretty tough to find. If you want a more standard one, you are probably in luck, since nearly all of them are more standard looking. Or maybe that's what they are doing now. Take a look at what Sweetwater has online and whatever you can find locally and see what they look like. That's all I can offer.
