Thunderbird Club

If you are going to develop a drug habit and plan to live a long time, heroin is a better choice than meth or coke (as long as you avoid overdoses and don't mix your drugs). So to that end, my money is on Keef to be last man standing*

*last man standing meaning the last human alive.

It'll be sorta' anticlimactic when he steps off the coil.

Yeah, it's in alright condition, and I plan to gig my amps, there's only one I consider a minty collectors piece, so as long as they aren't ratty I'm pretty content. I picked it up for the same price as I did a full 2000s rig back in 2014, and even putting $200 into repairs, came out below a grand for and amp that's never given me a hint of trouble. Hoping the same will be said for this Acoustic.

True, but if you're already doing that much damage, what's a little more! ;)
In 40 years, I have had to replace a few components in ACC amps. I have a bunch of 'em. The 126 still soldiers on as it always has, and everything else has been as reliable as a stone for the most part. A well tended ACC amp is a lot like and old Peavey. Both are heavy but near indestructible. Back when they were cheap, I picked up a whole lot of different ACC gear for various purposes and still use most of it.

Talking about old solid state amps, here's what I use:

And since I got the second L2 about a month ago I usually use those only. The L4 is a bit heavier, not really louder and doesn't sound as sweet as the L2 (might be psychoacoustics, I admit).
Great amps for clean and overdriven sound. The middle frequence pot is the magic ingredient in those. I usually take both with me to gigs. One as a spare 'though I haven't needed it yet. Yesterday it saved the guitarists ass as his Marshall died.
Plus two amps looks always cool, even with a one cab.

I just finished routing the pickup cavity for my five string bass built.

Which as I already stated, gives the bass a very distinct Yamaha BB-series look. The Pickup is in the same location as where it would be on a Fender P-bass but the 24 fret neck makes it look as if it's closer to the neck end.

Upon further research, it appears that Keef has had both coke and smack habits. It appears he is something of a renaissance drug user...
I imagine there not much he' stuck up his nose or internalized in various way. He's likely snorted Vanish (old effervescent toilet bowl cleaner in the states). And will likely live another 30 years.... At least his body.

Like every kid, I watched them but I liked the Partridge Family better. Don't laugh, they did have better looking girls.... At least there were girls.
Liked that one it was a tad more edgy than the Brady Bunch.

I know it's not Thunderbird Thursday, but, I had this new picture, just burning a hole in my pocket......

Kara, as far as I’m concerned it’s Thunderbird Thursday anytime you wanna flash that red beauty on the screen.

The Monkees, I Spy, Get Smart, The Avengers, The Munsters & Addams Family... and Shindig, Hullabaloo and Ready Steady Go. Foundational.
Musta been in the same house as me. Add Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Mission Impossible with a touch of Gillian’s Island, Hogans Hero’s, F-Troop, Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres to round out the day.

Can anyone in the club provide feedback on the fretboard "inlay" decals sold on eBay? I was thinking about adding the abalone type to my SpectorBird but don't want to if they are trash. Any experiences good or bad?
Second hand info only - everyone I’ve asked about the stickers has been very pleased with them. Go on easy, stay on and come off easy if you want to remove them. They apparently don’t wear out because ideally your strings never actually touch them. About the only remotely negative comment I’ve heard is that they’re kind of a 3 foot thing. From 3 feet away they look like real inlays close up you can tell it’s a sticker because of the raised surface. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone chime in on how they hold up to a good fretboard oiling.

I have used the ones from Jockomo. I ordered one set directly from him in Japan (because it is possible to ship to Canada) and the other set I got through Amazon.
The first set lasted 3-4 years with a lot of playing on my J shaped object before they started getting a little worn looking. They left a shadow where the surrounding rosewood is lighter, so I made another set with Cricut holo vinyl. It seems to be similar material and I could do custom shapes, but so far I’ve only made rectangles.
I haven’t found any abalone-ish material, but I haven’t looked very hard either.
A couple of other things to be aware of:
The outline of dot inlays does show through if you look carefully.
Check that the 12th fret sticker will cover your dots. Sometimes the dots are spaced too far apart.

Thank you both for the feedback!! I will think about it. Not a huge deal to have dot inlays. Spector crowns just look killer!
