Thunderbird Club

From what I am hearing the Thunderbird as we have known it since 1989 (black hardware, TB plus pickups) is going away to be replaced by something with more vintage specs. I have been asked for a list of desired features and it has been forwarded. That's about all I can at the moment.
It’s great that they asked. Let’s hope they deliver on it.

A sunny 80F here today! Perfect cycling weather. Enjoyed a laid back 10 mile ride with my wife. Tomorrow should be more of the same; I expect to get a longer solo ride in.
Ok, now that's just braggin'. But seriously, glad you had great weather and got to enjoy it.

Are those supposed to be more attracted to magnets than regular nickel rounds?
If so, I’ll have to make sure never to get them near my 2015 bird.
GHS says of their Pressurewounds (same nickle-iron) and is "highly magnetic." I can't say the Infeld's (Alloy5 also) have more volume or get sucked down to the pickups more than anything else, but I've not tried them on one of the G&L's which have crazy powerful pickups either.

Middle pu pot installed in '86 - I'm embarrassed to say I did the soldering then ~ very sloppy :bag: ... but it works! I followed a hand-written letter from Seymour Duncan for correct wiring. Wish I still had that letter!

My '64 IV. I have no idea if it's been tinkered with. It sounds great, so I wouldn't change a thing.

Looks pretty tidy!
Good, I'm glad to hear that.

I used it today live and every time I play it it's confirmed to my ears why every other Thunderbird doesn't measure up. I don't know why it sounds better, but it just does. I could easily never use another bass. Even the VPs sound great, but not that great. The '64 just has "it," whatever "it" is. Interestingly enough, at home I have a number of basses that sound better, but none ins a live mix.
